On sites where the exchange of personal or sensitive information isn't required, HTTPS serves no purpose. The companies that create ads and trackers will also get HTTPS certificates, meaning they'll function as they always have. The net result is that we'll end up right where we started, except that we'll be wasting processor power decrypting content that doesn't need encryption and padding the wallets of those who sell the certificates. It's an artificially created demand that serves only to put money in the pockets of a few. Regarding:
There's a word for that. Extortion. Buy this or else.

CODE INJECTION - TLS (SSL) IS NOT ALL ABOUT PRIVACY, IT'S ABOUT INTEGRITY TOO

Html injection, modifying binary files during download and other MITM modifications can be prevented by using TLS. And apparently processing power used for encryption/decryption is negligible.

Insurance is a gambling game for the company providing it, digital certificates are not.

Yup, this is already happening. Companies like Verizon injecting ads into legitimate websites. TLS prevents this form of MITM.

I understand that as well but the point is when it's a sellers market supply is not an issue. When there is an increase in demand, even when there is no shortage of supply, the price will go up. When you have to have something and you are punished for not, people will exploit that.
