Google today sent out invites for an October 15 hardware event in New York City. The company will almost certainly detail its Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones at the annual Made by Google event. We say “detail” because Google has already shown off the devices in response to the first Pixel 4 leaks.

Like last year, the Pixel 4 has leaked from all angles. What’s different this year is that Google not only confirmed the Pixel 4 four months ahead of its expected debut, but it did so with an image of the phone itself.
Hardware and software
In terms of hardware, Google will talk about the Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, and Nest Mini.

While this is largely a hardware event, Google will still likely talk about new Android and Google Assistant features unique to its devices.

Google might announce a 5G Pixel 4 at next week’s event

Google appears to be working on a 5G version of the Pixel 4, and it’s possible the phone will be shown as early as next week, according to Nikkei. The standard versions of the Pixel 4, which will be announced at an event next Tuesday, will only support LTE. But Nikkei says that Google has begun “test production” on a model of the phone that includes 5G, too.
If the phone is revealed on Tuesday, it’s likely that it would just be a teaser for a launch later on.

Either way, the goal seems to be getting a 5G phone on the market within the next year, ahead of a 5G iPhone that’s expected next September.
But being early to 5G could still help Google get some attention for its phone line.

Google's October 15 hardware event is fast approaching, and in addition to the launch of the Pixel 4, Google Home Mini 2, Google WI-Fi 2, and a new pair of Pixel Buds, the show should see a new Pixelbook arrive.

We've known the new Pixelbook would be called the "Pixelbook Go," but other than a few details from Chrome OS commits the device has mostly been a mystery. Google takes its title as "least secretive device manufacturer" very seriously, though, and recently 9to5Google managed to just get a Pixelbook Go ahead of the event. They took a bunch of pictures and video.
The key thing not shown in these leaks is the price. Google Hardware products have typically been very expensive compared to the competition. We'll know more next Tuesday.

Pixel Buds
Google went back to the drawing board with its answer to the AirPods. Shipping sometime in “Spring 2020”, the new Pixel Buds will cost $179.
Pixelbook Go
It’s been a while since Google shipped a higher-end Chrome OS laptop — but with Pixelbook Go, they’re taking another swing at it.
New Nest Aware
Nest Aware (which lets you add cloud recording to your Nest cameras) used to cost a few bucks per device. Now it’s a flat fee, regardless of how many cameras you’ve got.

Nest WiFi
As rumored over the past few weeks, Google is mashing up the concepts of its Google Wifi mesh router with its Google Home speakers, voltroning them into Nest WiFi — a router/smart speaker hybrid.
New Nest Mini
The Google Home Mini is now the “Nest Mini”, and a bit has changed beyond the name. It’s now wall mountable without any adapters, with a speaker that Google says offers up double the bass.
Pixel 4
After an endless series of leaks, the next generation of Pixel — Google’s flagship Android phone — is officially official. The Pixel 4 will come in at 5.7″ with a 2,800mAh battery, while the Pixel 4 XL comes in at 6.3″ with a 3,700mAh battery.

Google made the unconventional (by 2019 standards) decision to skip the notch on the Pixel 4 in favor of an old-fashioned top bezel in order to fit in all of the advanced face unlock and Soli radar tech. But thanks to iFixit’s traditional teardown, we finally got a better idea of just how small those systems are. There may not be a notch, but the fact that Google managed to fit all of this stuff into the bezel in the first place is impressive.

The image below shows the whole chunk of the bezel: the left is an ambient light sensor, the middle is the top earpiece, and that small green / gray rectangle is the entire Soli radar assembly.
The teardown also reveals that the fancy 90Hz display is almost impossible to take out.
According to iFixit, you’ll have to take apart almost the entire phone to get it out, and the edge-to-edge display and huge amounts of adhesive used to hold it in place mean it’ll be tough to get it out in one piece.

All told, the Pixel 4 isn’t the most repairable phone for the average consumer: iFixit ranks it at a numerically coincidental 4 out of 10 on its “repairability” scale, meaning that you’ll likely still want to let a pro handle your next broken screen.
