If you can reach the front page of HN, or know someone senior at Google, maybe you have a chance ;)

Luckily I have back-up mail. AOL is OK, I think it's impossible to nuke that lol.

It's so silly, the online ads industry basically killed themselves. Do you ever hear people complain about ads in newspapers and magazines? This mess can easily be solved. Take this site as an example, it also has banners that grab your attention, but not obtrusive at all. This is how it should be:

Google would rather you dumped your 3rd party blocker and use their own blocker..sounds like a strategy from the googleplex to take control of the advertising industry altogether.

Well, if they manage to get rid of intrusive/annoying/malware-filled ads in the long run, is it a bad thing?

Well its a 2-horned dilemma really.
Of course as you say if it removes intrusive /annoying ads then it is a good thing,However the user sort of loses control over what ad content can be seen and you leave the decision making to google.I personally like to have control over the ads.But to give google some credit it is a brave thing to do seeing as their chief revenue comes from advertising.

With google it's all about strategies and more strategies. Expect them to talk out of both sides of their face. Anything good they appear to do is just appearances. Don't expect google to NOT be evil.

I really can't understand why so many still use Chrome. I know that Mozilla's Firefox is not perfect but it's main purpose in life is not to sell adverts as is Google's.

For the vast majority of users who apparently don't know or care about privacy, then they are fair game for Google but for those of us who like to at least try and keep a degree of privacy on line, there are far better alternatives.

As I understand it, Chrome got popular because it was faster, and did a better job of sandboxing.

Agreed totally. I will continue to use ad blockers and to block most of their crap as much as possible.

Simple enough for me. I do not use Chrome and don't plan to. I Block virtually ALL their crap - and there IS a lot of it. If something slips thru, I figure out how to block it. Google is/are hypocrites.

The Chrome ad blocker seems to work pretty good. I turned off my AGFWindows app and did not see any more ads, so i guess i don't need it anymore.

    Agree 100%.

No brainer Google will continue to viciously continue to assault all platforms with their wares while blowing hot air
