I've never gotten the "I don't have anything to hide" argument used in these situations. It sounded stupid coming from Eric Schmidt, and it sounds stupid coming from everyone else. Okay, so you're not a kid molester or a made man in the Mafia..great, glad to hear it. Does that mean you should still want to be made billions off of using your own life, personal information and words?

The "nothing to hide" mindset is incredibly stupid and dangerous, but hey, it's not my information, so more power to those who think that way.

My thoughts as well. Could not have said it any better. Craziness tbh. Mostly young people who feel this way. Makes you feel good at night when you go to sleep knowing that some day they will be in control/power.

    Lord help us.

The "I have nothing to hide" argument makes no sense in that just because we have nothing illegal or whatever doesn't mean we want it shared.

But I really do have nothing to hide and I don't mind sharing it for either improvements to a product or even money. I sent usage stats to google along with crash reports.

I don't think they should have the right to make them mandatory and I want the ability to "hide" and I want everyone else to have that ability as well.

But... I have absolutely no problem stepping out a bit if it means I get something in return.

EDIT: Lol, yes, the older generation has done such a wonderful job. So glad the government is run by a bunch of 70 year old rich guys.

    and
It stinks now and will only get worse. It's one of the few things that make me glad I'm not young. By the time the young generation comes to power, I'll either be gone or too senile to notice.

    Faust?
That describes our present government and business mentalities.

Yes, also, the selling of birthrights for messes of pottage comes to mind as well. Personally, I've never been too keen on lentils anyhow ... ;)
