Now that enough people have completed a special puzzle, Google announced that its annual developer event will return to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View. Google I/O will run from May 12th - 14th, a few days later than its timing in 2019.

In the past we've seen announcements focusing on everything from Assistant to Google Glass, and who knows what 2020 may bring to the location's outdoor stage.

Google recently revealed that its upcoming developer-focused I/O 2020 event would be held from May 12-14, but tickets were not yet available. If you've been waiting to register for the event, now's the time, but tickets are unfortunately as expensive as ever.

Just like last year, general admission to the event costs a hefty $1,150 — that's 115% the price of a Galaxy S20, for those of you keeping track at home. Paying for the ticket places a pre-authorization charge on your payment method, and if you're not chosen to attend the event (applications are chosen at random), the charge will be released within seven days.

If you're a full-time student, professor, or staff member at a school, you may be eligible to purchase an Academic ticket instead. That one only costs $375, but you'll need to bring proof of documentation that you are student/faculty to the event's check-in center

You can register for a ticket at the link below. There's no rush to get your ticket, since applications are chosen at random, and you have until 5PM Pacific Time on February 25th to apply.

Google is canceling its I/O developer event this year, amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Google I/O was due to take place between May 12th to 14th this year, and the cancellation comes just days after Google scrapped its Cloud Next event in San Francisco.

“Due to concerns around the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in accordance with health guidance from the CDC, WHO, and other health authorities, we have decided to cancel the physical Google I/O event at Shoreline Amphitheatre,” explains a Google spokesperson in a statement to The Verge.
That means attendees will be refunded in full, and those who purchased tickets for this year’s event will be automatically granted the option of buying a Google I/O 2021 ticket.

The big annual Google I/O developer conference is now completely canceled, Google said on Friday. On March 3, the company moved the in-person event to an online-only affair over growing concerns about the spread of coronavirus COVID-19. But, now those sessions are also being canceled.
