Google is no longer selling the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, its pair of 2018 flagship phones. Both devices were removed from availability today on the Google Store, and we have confirmed with a company spokesperson that it has sold through its inventory, and that sales for the phones have completed.

The previous product listing for the Pixel 3 at the Google Store now redirects to the store homepage, and the product carousel/ribbon there no longer lists the Pixel 3, either.
We reached out to Google earlier today to determine if this change was intentional, and a company spokesperson confirmed that it was and that the store has sold through its inventory of the older device.

This timing about matches last year, when Google stopped selling the Pixel 2 and 2 XL on April 1st — and that wasn't a Fools' Day joke.

Getting the pure Android experience with a Pixel phone isn’t always cheap. However, Amazon is taking us back to the Nexus days, offering the Pixel 3a and 3a XL smartphones at $279 and $319 respectively, the lowest prices we’ve seen yet.

For this deal — which Best Buy is also offering (Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL) when you choose the “Activate Later” option — you get most of the features found on the Pixel 3/3 XL, including the same excellent cameras, attractive design, bright screen and Google’s native Android experience with timely updates.
The only downsides are the lack of water resistance, expandable storage and lower performance, since both phones are equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 670 and not the Snapdragon 845 found on the Pixel 3.

We’ve seen the Pixel 3a/3a XL as low as $300 and $380 on Amazon, but the latest discount takes it below that magic $300 barrier, giving you a mid-range phone at a budget price.

In a statement provided to Android Police, Google has confirmed that its Pixel 3a and 3a XL smartphones are now discontinued. No more stock will be made available on the Google store, and the phone will only remain available through a handful of 3rd party retailers as remaining units sell through. Google's full statement, via a Google spokesperson, follows below.

Google Store has sold through its inventory and completed sales of Pixel 3a. For people who are still interested in buying Pixel 3a, the product is available from some partners while supplies last.

The official US Google Store listing for the Pixel 3a showed the phones as "Unavailable" for purchase as of this afternoon. As late as yesterday, the phone was listed only as "Out of stock." The change in language generally denotes when a product has reached the end of its retail life.

The update is expected to arrive in Q1 2022, skipping out on the December Feature Drop.

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have pretty much reached end-of-life, with their final major update coming in the form of Android 12 in October. It was also the last month they were guaranteed to receive security updates, however, those still holding onto these devices still have one final update to look forward to.

9to5Google reports that Google will apparently roll out the final update for the devices early next year.

Announced over three years ago at I/O 2019, Google today rolled out the final Pixel 3a and 3a XL update. May 2022 was officially the cut-off date for guaranteed Android version and security updates, but Pixel phones have historically gotten one more release after that.

Google said four months ago that the final update would arrive “by July,” but June saw a small VoLTE roaming release that kept the Pixel 3a on the May security patch.

The Pixel 3a was Google’s first mid-range device in a shift from being just a premium smartphone brand. It helped bring the Pixel to more people and was a market success by all accounts without compromising on too many specifications. There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor (octa-core 2.0Ghz + 1.7Ghz) with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and Android 9 Pie at launch.

It used Google’s tried and true 12.2MP rear camera and 8MP front-facer. The camera quality offered at this mid-range price was widely praised and the Pixel 3a offers unlimited Storage saver (previously named High quality) backup.
