I also like locate32 and Cathy as I'm using them from a long time, beginning on windows 98 old days. Yesterday I saw a review of File Workshop. I played with it and the speed and acuracy are quite amazing. All in a portable standalone file.

"This is an ultra compact, portable windows application which consists of useful file tools. The application has been coded in C language, so it is really fast, small, compatible and reliable.

This is more a state-of-the-art tool than a program with shining interface.

    Tiny size but serious functionality!
    - Full enhanced criteria for advanced users
    - 100% result reliability
    - Works at a very high speed
    - Works well with very big number of files
    - Compacted interface in a resizable window

    No dependencies!
    - Coded in pure C, no third party software harmed, no third party libraries used
    - No third party runtimes needed to have neither install, no weird dependecies
    - No installation needed, just copy the program file where you want to be
    - High portability (runs from USB stick/burned in a CD or DVD/WinPE/BartPE/...)
    - Any version of Windows 2000/XP/Vista

    No fee!
    - Freeware for personal, non-commercial use
    - No adware/spyware/other annoying code

    Main features

    - The fastest and most powerful non-indexing search tool you ever had!
    - Search for files and/or folders
    - Supports multiple directory targets
    - Highly customizable advanced filters: name/extension/content/size/date/time/attributes
    - Search filters can be inclusive or exclusive
    - Supports specific actions to selected items in result
    - Supports exporting the result to file
    - Ensures your privacy (no traces)

    - The fastest and most powerful file comparator you ever had!
    - Supports comparing by content, name, size and/or combination of them
    - Detects exact content duplicates, truncated, name/size matching and zero size files
    - It generates a real file comparison with the minimum possible disk utilization
    - Works with a byte-to-byte optimized comparison algorithm, eliminating any fake content duplicates in result
    - Supports extra optional filters like extension/size/date/attributes
    - Supports multiple directory targets
    - Supports specific actions to selected items in result
    - Supports exporting the result to file

    Extra tools:
    • "New Folders"
    - A utility to automatically create a sequence of folders, alphabetic or numeric
    • "Create fake file"
    - Create a fake file of any size in a second"
