Trying LinkExtend again. Looks still buggy. No search result ratings and Browser Defender is still problematic.
If you are referring to SafeLinks FREE apparently it uses McAfee Site Advisor & Trend Micro. Maybe not the most reliable link testers in many people's opinion, but it is definitely better than nothing.
And what methods do mcafee and trend micro use? I mean, how do they actually determine if a site is safe? Or is it a matter of whitelisting?
I guess it's a matter of whitelisting. I don't know a lot about Trend Micro but they seem quite competent. As for McAfee's Site Advisor it has been quite controversial at times. I used it when I actually ran McAfee as an AV. With the extension you actually have the ability to switch between Site Advisor & Trend Micro or use both. It can never hurt to have a second opinion. Trend Micro's Site Safety Centre is here if you want to take a look.
For some reason, both McAfee and Norton stuff have been reported not to play nice with some browsers including Chrome and Firefox.
Very probably. Personally I never had much trouble with the Site Advisor extension for Firefox (with the McAfee AV) or the Chrome extension (independent of what AV you are actually running). I was thinking more of some of the complaints against McAfee's possible bias against certain people who have websites & claims of being accused of having malware. Or just Site Advisor's efficacy as a whole.
i found a cool mouse gestures app for Chrome. it's Gestures for Chrome. one of the best i've tried and it works fine with the latest version of Chromium. i used Mouse Stroke before and that worked well on Chrome but not Chromium. once you start using a gesture app you don't want to go back! here's the kink to Gestures for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/jpkfjicglakibpenojifdiepckckakgk
Curious here. Fresh install of Google Chrome. Only extension I have is adblock. Unable to play any videos from Comcast. Can someone else try it please? Thanks. http://xfinity.comcast.net/video/ka...ut-with-prince/1986992053/Comcast/1988487485/ Disabling the extension does not fix it either. Its strange.
I like Chromium more than Chrome for some reason, even though they are almost identical. I have settled for these extensions. I was never a big fan of extensions/plugins, but find I use these quite often. Adblock - ad blocker - Proxomitron works better, but also requires some TLC more often. ChromeAccess - Quick access to "about" pages FlashBlock - I used it in Kmeleon. I love this tool. Hotmail Email Button - quick access to my hotmail account I have had since the beginning of time Mail Checker Plus for Google Mail - same thing, quick access to gmail Nightly Chromium Updater - see what last version was, download if desired and also see release notes. Handy. Session Manager - I use sessions a lot in researching. Smooth Gestures - my favorite mouse gesture extension. Web2PDFConverter - quick and convenient way to get a web page into pdf format YouTube Downloader - good enough video downloader I have tried a few apps, but really not much there is interesting to me. I have looked at a couple thousand extensions, and a few I had not seen that I started using, but otherwise, not much else for me. Sul.
Hmmm... we can say, "Been there, done that" over here: http://www.thechromesource.com/customizing-your-chrome-extension-icons/
Giving FlashControl a try. It appears to have some more options that FlashBlock. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mfidmkgnfgnkihnjeklbekckimkipmoe?hl=en-US#
Why don't you just implement what is suggested here? This makes extensions like FlashControl or Flashblock superfluous, IMHO.
I tried that on SRWare Iron & it crashed so badly I had to make a clean install. I hope it is more stable in Chrome! FlashControl looks interesting though.
OK, it did work on my Vista 32 bit notebook, Iron crashed on my Win 7 64 bit desktop, I don't know if that's relevant or not. Chrome would probably have been OK. I was just a tad scared to try it as Chrome is my default on my desktop which is my main work computer.
Is anyone having any problems with SafeLinks Free? They seem to have upgraded it a tad to include three scanners (now with Norton). It will work once on a link on a webpage, but will not work again unless you either relaunch the browser or turn it off & on again in 'extensions'. I had this problem once before, it tends to happen if you try to modify its settings. My guess is its some sort of bug.
Well, there's no blacklist as flash is forbidden by default. You can then temporarily or permanently (=whitelist) allow it for a specific site.
Does somebody know a rule for block this ad with adblock plus for chrome ? I'm using the easylist filter+fr and recommended filters for chrome and it didn't work (it's good in firefox) This ad appears when i watch a video on megavideo, normally you've got the red/green button for play the video (i take the screenshot too fast ) Many thanks.
