I am currently looking into firewalls. I've tried these:

    Comodo Firewall+
    PC Tools Firewall
    Private Firewall
    Look N Stop Firewall

I find all of them to be very good, but I can't tell which runs most smoothly. I want a lightweighted firewall that doesn't take up much computer resources. What are your experiences with these firewalls? I'm in need of a hint here as this is the only computer (at my home) without a software firewall (the others are protected by NIS 2010. :)

P.S. Please refrain from bashing and flaming certain vendors. I just want to hear your experiences.

Comodo Firewall would be appropriate if you care to have a HIPS for x64.

  3. Comodo Firewall deff. Only taking up 6MB ram at the moment. :) Which includes Firewall, HIPS, Sandbox.

I'm liking PC Tools firewall. Running on only 8mb of ram. It's nice and smooth. No hiccups so far.

Comodo caused me some serious trouble today. My games froze and some even refused to start (screen went black and couldn't even do the good old ctrl + alt + del). Furthermore, I couldn't close/minimize MSN/Skype to tray.

I did a few leaktests (http://www.pcflank.com/pcflankleaktest.htm and http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm) with PCTools firewall and it didn't even pass those tests. Comodo did but caused too much problems.

I am thinking Look N Stop... seems to be my only option.

Or the Windows firewall? Especially since you are behind a firewalled router, as well. Do you want/need HIPS?

I'd like HIPS and an outbound firewall... but then again, I have never been infected with malware in my entire life and I just started using AV two years ago. Meh, you're right, I'll not use firewall/HIPS other than Windows'.

    Thanks for your input.
