There's usually some promo going on to get the Plus version for free. The last time I tried it though (a month ago or so) the uninstall process was not the smoothest in the world.

What's the origin of this software? It looks like an re-skinned version of SMPlayer to me... o_O

Neuview Media player it's something I tried a while ago and whereas I didn't dig its interface during the short trial, it had an excellent video quality

Indeed it is a fork of SMPlayer but with some great improvements:

    - skins support
    - search, play & record YouTube videos directly on UMPlayer without having Adobe Flash player installed.
    - play SHOUTcast™ streams directly on UMPlayer.

ummm i think -and correct me if i m wrong- both UMplayer and SMplayer are front ends of Mplayer no?

One feature i miss from VLC since i have start to use UMplayer is the ability for Sharpening (very helpful on old VHS rips),and it's a real pity cos i m in love with this player.unless there is such an option and haven't noticed it yet.

Honestly, I can only agree. VLC (now) does just about everything I could want for in a player. I had been using QuickTime to run 3GP files, but VLC now runs these & does it well.
