Once upon a time I used GMER a lot...but the last version I used recently caused a BSOD, so I think I will give it a miss. ;)

Now, if I want to check for rootkits, there are other alternatives....

    Nice to see an update.

A buddy's wireless NIC software installation gave him a BSOD just the other day.
Though not as common as they once were, in my experiences anyway, I wouldn't liken them to four leaf clovers just yet.
Well that and his BSOD didn't come as cheap.

    Yeah, I did a double-take when I saw that.

Wondering about the x64 million dollar question as well. Didn't find the answer on the official site.

It will run on Win 7 x64 but with limited features. No idea how effective it is and there's no 64 bit driver.

Seems like Gmer has been updated to 1.0.15477.

I've got a problem with it.
    Gmer
LoadDriver( "C:\Users\ComputerUser\AppData\Local\Temp\uwliyfow.sys" ) error 0xC0000022: Access is denied.

    I'm using Vista SP2.

Maybe I'm having a driver conflict with tdss remover. I'll send him a note.

Sent the note and a log in case it's not a driver conflict.
Last time I sent him a note he didn't respond but tweaked his program.
    Time will tell.

Success, notice how gmer now flags the new TDL4 (x64 tdss/tdl rootkit), (edit: did not finish system scan due to crash.)

No 'settings' tab for a while now since at least '09 or before I think.

A log file can be created with the 'save' button. If you are looking for the gmer defence options then you could go back to an earlier version or have a look at XueTr ark...

edit: you can download from the ark list at kernelmode.info or xuetr.com - linxer.

thanks for xueTr i didnt know about Block behavior settings ...but i have 2 points

first, when i close the program ...all protection settings gone unlike gmer which keeps protected mode (i guess by keep driver loaded all time)

second, gmer used for HIPS ..but XueTr used for Block behavior :ouch:

which ,for me, makes gmer in my first top toolkit(sadly i have to keep on old version for settings tab)

I do not think it likes raid. If I run it on my raid 10 box (even just open and then close) wildows gradually becomes unstable and crashes.

Rootrepeal does not either, it causes a hardware level hard reboot on all disk actions (no BSOD, its like you pulled the power).

I think you are right about gmer.
Using the most recent version and moving the slider on the disk access level has helped me that now RootRepeal will run fine and stable.

My Gmer error was because the user was buggy.
Sorry for my misunderstanding, other ARK's run from other partitions.
Ran well from the C:\ drive, no red items.
