    Hi,

Can we trust on the privacy policy of Gmail?

Our email can be seen by them for other intentions?

    Thanks

Imo it's stupid to have a gmail account. Other than for spurious or bs purposes. Any info based in fact is given up imo in gmail.
Why gmail anyways? Yahoo!Mail is a GB. No retaining every email till the end of time etc bs.

It's great if you need an account to sign up for things. All the spam goes there.

I use the Gmail about 2 years ago to be notified of new post, and started to be my first email account, but want to know if they can see my email?

Yes, anybody hosting your email could technically see/read it, if they choose to do so - Google, Yahoo, your ISP, etc.

Personally, I have a gmail account but I don't like the conversation interface, nor the lack of folders. Labels is a good idea - but I have not bothered with it myself and so I don't use it too much. But, I have 100 Gmail invites if anyone wants it that does not have it.

One of the security concerns with gmail is that emails never are deleted. They're always retained. That's a big deal for me. But suit yourself.

lol. No what I mean is even if one chose to delete emails or delete the whole gmail account. None of it gets deleted. Unlike other email accounts which will truely delete emails or accounts. In other words it's not up to the individual with gmail. Your gmail is always archived.

I think the safest way to go is to assume no email will ever truly be erased. Once it's out there, it's out there but good.

Ok, so you are convinced that when you cancel your **** (enter (web)mail account here) the company will search through their backups to delete all your mail? :)

    From the gmail privacy policy:

"You may organize or delete your messages through your Gmail account or terminate your account through the Google Account section of Gmail settings. Such deletions or terminations will take immediate effect in your account view. Residual copies of deleted messages and accounts may take up to 60 days to be deleted from our active servers and may remain in our offline backup systems."

I ASSume that eventually your emails would even disappear from the backup systems as they are refreshed or reindexed. ??

I guess it depends to what policies - like Sarbanes-Oxley - Google has to comply.
