Well, actually if you observe the situation is not something strange. At least not from Kaspersky side.

At first AOL was using their engine for their on-demand scanner.
    Then, Kaspersky pull off.
After that the same happend to G-Data, and To Online Armour.
And this are the examples that i can think of now, and i can't recall if there were some similar cases.
I don't know what scheme uses Kaspersky, but is not quite good.

Either they should give the engine to someone and let them use it for couple of years or not give the engine at all.

When Avira give their engine to Lavasoft (Helix AV), and Avast and Bidefender are giving their engines, i don't see the logic in the Kaspersky moves.
I don't think that G-Data have some choice.

O.K they are not giving lifetime license, but at least they should give 2 week trip to Seychelles. I think is fair enough  .

Although there was not an official word on the change of engines, according to rokop forums some power testers suggested it was possibly due to better multithreading capabilities of the BD engine against the KAV one.

Users with multicore processors should see a dramatic improvement in speed and performance respect to 2008 and earlier versions (as i did when i tested it).

I just don't trust much on the BD detection rate :doubt:

If you consider that Kaspersky's Anti-Virus SDK is still based on version 5 (at least, a few months ago this was still the case) it's not weird company's change to Bitdefender/Avira/AVAST SDK's.

Tried Gdata, its surprisingly light for a multi-engine product. Something I hope F-Secure is also trying to emulate. Anti-Spam is accurate, Firewall is so-so.

But one issue I had with Gdata 2010, is its webfilters/Http Scanner. It really slows down the net access.

Didn't explore much deeper, maybe after the English Build arrives.

My bad, I thought it was added to the first post...

    You can find it here:
    http://www.rokop-security.de/index.php?showtopic=18202&view=findpost&p=266570

Note that the AVKCleaner in the first post works with both English and German version.

    ---------------------------------------

By the way, according to this article:

    http://www.gdata.de/ueber-g-data/pr...icle/1133-die-schnellste-security-softwa.html

The 2010 German version will be released in early April.

My BETA license is going to expire in 5 days (check the screenshots). Just wonder if there will be a new beta license for the English version?

P/S: Some bugs I've found so far:
    - G DATA Shredder will not open
    - The help files is still the 2009's ones
    - If you click on "What will happen if my license expires?" the program will say "Cannot open help files"

The help files probably haven't been made for the English version yet. But the program will just stop updating once the license expires.

Aww...They haven't released the English version for antivirus only :(

Gdata ofcourse has to copy something from Symantec, the whole CPU % and Gdata % is totally ripped off. Sad.

True, but the CPU usage is much less than the 2009 version. So, its a wash for me.
