    Hi Narxis,

Yo u could be right, just have to keep an eye on the German web-site. I alternate between Avira / Drweb and G Data, threw out the year.G Data is the only suite i use, good detection and very light on my Pc.

Good Evening! This is just a generalized question, roughly what have users found the scan time on local hard disks on G-Data Security Suite 2010 averaged? I know this averages from user too user,is fifteen to twenty five minutes a mean average on a clean system ? Sincerely...Securon

I think G-Data took about 30 mins to scan my 60gb hdd initially (can't be sure though) but subsequent scans are usually less as it's default settings are to only scan new and changed files.

Good morning! Thanks Ade 1, it seems that it scans as you stated only new and changed files, that's a resourceful and functional feature within the product. Sincerely...Securon

tested out G-Data and the box ticked for scan only new and changed files. This is a feature a few good AVs have and I love it. So I did a clean install and let it run halfway through the scan and cancelled it. Restarted it and when it got to the file portion it jumped to right where it left off. To me this is important because this thing is HUGE to install with 2 AV engines and their defs. It is how it works afterwards though that counts and on 1 desktop and 1 laptop it is proving to be as light as anything else. We shall see. Oh, the other laptop, ESS of course, never leave home without it.:D

Just curious trjam, would you mind posting a screenshot of either process explorer or task manager showing the mem usage?

when this scan finishes I can of task manager. I am doing the full system scan and using the PC at the same time so CPU usage is bouncing around. Not sure of what processes to look for so I will post or show what I can.

Scan time for me initially was about 2.5 hrs (3 hdd, 80gb, 500 gb, 1 tb - in all about 35% full). Now scan times are about 10-15 minutes. My older laptop loves GData IS. Runs light and fast. I use it along with Prevx and I couldn't be happier.

    trjam,

That screen on the top left looks like it has 5 gdata services running. It looks lite in task manager anyway. Your system seems pretty responsive since installing huh?

    Thanks for the screens BTW

I have been keeping my eye on GDATA. A few say it's heavy and a few say it's light. I did hear that support for North Americans is almost nil unless you go through a third party according to securon

    Hello everyone,

Could you please tell me how long you can use the beta. In their site it says "with completely unlimited operating scope" which I think is rather vague. When does it expire? Or is it a continuous beta like F-Secure ISTP.

    Thanks

On the german webpage(gdata.de) you can download the new G DATA for Win XP, Vista and Win 7. Version 20.1.50(10.08.09). Maybe the english version will be available in a few weeks.
