Another vote for WSA. I use it on my gaming rig and its super fast, and my specs are not near what yours are (although you desperately need an SSD).

I use KIS on my families PC's due to its security and relative lightness.

Well guys got the laptop and have it setup. My employer ended up getting me a 120Gb Samsung 840 Evo SSD as a gift for working my butt off at work.

    So now specs are:

    NVIDIA 770GTX 3Gb GPU
    12Gbs of RAM
    Intel i7 4700MQ
    120Gb Samsung 840 Evo SSD

Pretty sure I can use what ever security setup I want.

For gaming I saw really no difference, but Windows seems to be a tad snappier in general use, video use, web browsing, etc...using WSA.

As I said, the PC's in my house use KIS.

    I have tried;

    KIS 2013/2014
    Avast
    F-Secure 2013, 2014 Beta
    ESET Smart Security 5, 6, 7

ESET was probably second to WSA. Avast is close and F-Secure is good too, and KIS is not exactly slow....but none of them feel quite as snappy as WSA.

    Just my $0.02

Anyone know of any WSA discounts going on? I know they had them running for $5-$15 on Newegg not to long ago for a 1-3 PC license.

Watch the daily deals on Newegg.

Needless to say I went with ESET Smart Security. They have it currently for $12 so I snagged it.

That would have been a really solid second choice of mine. I actually have a cracked copy of 5 I use that upgrades to 6 and continues to work. If I could find it for $12, I'd actually pay for it.

Newegg has it for sale right now.

You have to add v5 to your cart, but it is a free upgrade to 6 once activated.

Webroot SecureAnywhere and you're good to go. Lowest possible impact with decent enough protection.
