    Hi.

A simple option to disable the daily definition update popups ONLY.

I'm not talking about Silent Mode which does more than just what I've asked.

I'm sorry if this has been suggested before in this thread, but I haven't got time to read through all 20 pages of it!

I'd like a customizable nod32 icon on systray, say, showing a 'N' for instance :)

I wouldn't call this a critical change, but I think it would be in ESEt's interests if they changed the product name from "NOD32 AntiVirus" to "NOD32 AntiMalware".

ESET is doing NOD32 an injustice by still referring to it as an AntiVirus product (since NOD32 goes well beyond just virus detection and treatment).

    Just my 5 cents worth

Yes, however, you and I know what Malware is, the general public don't. A security suite they do understand and this will be addressed in version 3.0.

    Cheers :D

yes thats one of the only problems with nod32 is the fact most people cant understand the interface and are used to flashy crappy interfaces like norton:D

I would like to have the following changes in nod32:

1.Better Protection against trojans and spyware/adware.
2.Self Defense so it will impossible for any virus to disable nod32.
    3.Better User Interface.
4.Antivirus options in the right click menu of nod32 in the system tray.
    4.A Firewall.
5.Disinfection of Compressed (zip/rar etc) files.
    6.A Separate Antispyware module.
    7.Scanning of more internet protocols.

These Changes will make nod32 unbeatable.

I have 8 months of a 2-year subscription to run, and I discovered this forum today quite by chance. Then I discovered that V. 2.7 had been available for some months, and I hadn't been notified.....

Yes, I downloaded/uninstalled/fresh installed, and the product seems as sweet as a nut - for which I'm grateful - but I'm puzzled that, despite full frequency auto-updates of V.2.5, no awareness of V.2.7 came my way from Eset.

    Hi bilbobaggins, welcome to Wilders.

It will be pushed as a Program Component Upgrade shortly to all current license holders.

    Cheers :D

Re: Future Changes to Nod32 - Idiots' Guide?

This is all fascinating, if enormously confusing. I've spent some hours digging through various threads, and referring from some of those to the NOD32 2.7 Help utility. What a jigsaw puzzle!

I'm aware that many on here who sing the praises have considerable expertise as support wonks and IT security whizzes - so 'respec, bro' - but members of the 'great unwashed' ( as one contributor puts it ) would rarely have enough curiosity to dig this deep. I've shown to friends and visitors some few aspects of what my installed version does, and their eyes glaze over.....

It seems to me that this IS quite close to 'rocket science', and that an Idiots' Guide to what does what, why, how to set it up for the normal family/SOHO world - and where to go for more in-depth tweakery - would be hugely appreciated by much of the target audience.

 I'd like to see this in .pdf format - and I'd be quite willing to pay for it, with my copy of V.3.0

It seems to me there is little point in producing the world's best AV product - and whispering its praises in selected techie forums and magazines - if the 'great unwashed' target market cannot access 80% of its better functionality, 'cos that is almost inaccessible to them, and they don't understand the big words.

Not advocating 'Marketing' ahead of 'Development' but surely 'User Accessibility' is now firmly embedded in 21st Century HCI Software Design? :thumb:

It looks like some of you still do not understand that IMON works at Winsock level and as such all data that flows through it is encrypted in the case of SSL :) There would be no sense to develop SSL if IMON was to scan it.

well maybe the next http scanner should not use the winsock layer.

    Hi.

    1st)
A choice to activate such behaviour during installation: "Work completly silent. If there is a danger: Stop it directly without asking. If a file is affected, do a copy first, then try to clean it, otherwise delete it." would be nice and should be the default for most users!
Because as far as I know the only way to achieve such behaviour is to use the nod32.xml-editor...

    2nd)
Maybe you could add a second option: "Just show a little pop-up-window, when a danger was found and stopped (copied to quarantaine or deleted or hindered)".
Because as far as I know there is NO way to have nod32 working /without/ neccessary user-interaction, except that the user will get informed about new entries in the "thread log" and/or if during a scan something was /found/.

    3rd)
I am selling and installing NOD32 to many people. And as they let me do their IT buisiness (and they don't want to bother about nod32 in any way), I would apreciate very much a variable to include the /UNIQUE/ Login-ID into emails sent by NOD32!
Because the Computername is not enough to identify from WHOM the error-message came, because for our customers
we always setup an automatic email-notification from nod32 to our address!

4th) There is NO way to use a proxy for sending emails, or?!

5th) For the Proxy-Settings within NOD32 there should be the possibility to use the system-wide proxy-settings
    (for updater AND for email-notification)!

A short feedback on this feedback would be apreciated.

    Greetings,

    tormen.

Didn't have a chance to read all posts, but I'll add my vote for an ignore button for items the modules don't like, but the user wishes to keep. Also, a simple and more comprehensive way to build an ignore list would be helpful. I'll not go on as I'm guessing that these are structural issues that may be addresssed in version 3. I imagine that the developers know the interface is tired and nonintuitive.

NOD32 events logged to event log

I'm using a system from Level Platforms which allows remote montoring and management of my client's sites.

It collects events through WMI, syslog, snmp, etc.

I'd like to be able to track virus alerts and other warnings from NOD32 in the system. It would be great if NOD32 would log these entries in the Windows event log in addition to its own closed log files.

    Thanks - Joe

    Hi,

I want to put NOD32 signature in my outgoing emails like AVG.

Hope to see in coming version.

USA still the best. But barely.
For on demand scan: scan new & changed files only.

    Better cleaning of nasties.

Current interface of Norton is a lot easier and user friendly than NOD.

    Hi ankupan,

If you use Outlook, EMON can already do that
