ALREADY?? Well, the Las Vegas types did not even have time to place the bets and establish the odds, or whatever those types do.

    Need FSIS?;) ;)

    Best,
    Jerry

Someone might have answered this before but does the AV part of F-Secure have the iSwift iChecker issues that relate to checkdisk or does it just have the scanner without these options?

    Thanks

not that I can find. I always liked DeepGuard but sometimes had issues with the firewall in the suite. It works well with Sandboxie and web scanning, and yes they have web scanning in their AV stand alone, is very fast.

Remember that it is "more blessed to give than to receive."
There have been a few of the FS AVs on ebay. In fact, I know who has one. Have you tried just the AV? You know you can get a free trial. I suppose you have not had a lot of experience with such stuff.

I don't recall that FSIS had the option of not installing the firewall, but did not look for that. I suppose it would have to be a custom installation. I am not even sure it has that option? You know?

    Jerry

Is there not a 2008 version of standalone antivirus or is it just the suite for 2008?

    Thanks.

Thanks for that but thei rpricing is stange with the suite costing less than the AV. Very strange indeed and I am not that fond of suites.

never pay commercial prices(unless its drweb :) ), there are always cheaper to find.

the suite allows you to install without parental control, good idea :D much better than just turning it off, or still seeing it in the GUI.

i would install just the AV too as its all i need, but it doesnt have spam if memory serves me right.

Can you install the suite without the firewall? That would be in the case that you had the suite, but preferred another firewall.
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    HI C.S.J,

Thanks for the information. I personally like the suite, but wondered about the possibilities.
Now with your preference for Dr Web wouldn't 2 or 3 FSIS CDs be a lifetime supply for you??:D

It is unfortunate that FS starts so slowly, and some find it loads their system too much, because I think it is right up there with KIS, and an excellent application. I have a couple for back up in case KIS goes south in a future upgrade.

I continue to wish that someone here, such as yourself or trjam would trial the suite of AVG. Why don't I do it? I dont's seem to be able to change things so easily, and hate all the uninstall with whatever problems, and then install, and go through it all again to return to what is working well.
So I depend upon some of you experts to report the good and bad of the applications.

PS What are the odds of a change of trjam's avatar within the next three days?:)

    Regards,
    Jerry

I have, and its OK.....Its firewall is not so good as the one in F-Secure, and it has very poor anti-leak protection. Anti-spam is pretty good, and malware protection is top notch. ;)
