Thanks proll for the link... I post some screen shots in the "AV Screenshots Thread", pretty much look the same as 2007. Changes must be under the hood. :D

:D Just in case this question is asked, I just intalled FSIS2008 directly over the 2007 version, and it worked fine. I didn't even have to re-enter my license key. During the installation, it asks if you want to enter a new key or continue until your expiration date for the old version--if the latter, then just leave the key entry boxes blank. So far, so good!

Looks like the OEM isn't being released yet. :( Just had a reply from support, saying they will send it to me when it comes out.

yea even tho expired, it loaded the same, had the same load characteristics & amount of memory used BUT since I couldn't get into the trial I can't fully say but it sure didn't seem to load any different than 07...

IF you look at the digital signature of the download file, it says may 2007 which is very odd to me.

I think may 2007 is the setup program and not the content

Anyone running this on Vista? If so any irregular CPU usage from fssm32.exe? When I tried '07 a couple of weeks ago it always stayed around 30-50% even at idle.

    Very good!
I'm trying FSIS 8 and very happy to see that resource usage don't put the system down...

Many processes (about 10), but no slow startup neither slow down the entire system as 2007 version...

Memory usage (10 processes) about 30 to 50Mb using Normal security level.
    CPU usage: 0 to 2%.

Finally F-Secure can enter in the market of modest computer users. |o|

Sounds very good. Hope the faster start and lower load hold up. The load was not noticeable to me, but the slow start was a slight annoyance.
    Basically I was happy with 2007, and 2008 sounds a little better.:thumb:

    Thanks for the report.
    Regards,
    Jerry

I installed 2008 over 2007 without any problem but I've the same number of processes like before: 14. Do you installed 2008 from scratch? Can you confirm only 10 processes?

Hm, I trialed it and cannot see any difference to version 2007. The interface is exactly the same, I fail to see new options. Still the same limited firewall. CPU usage is still ridiculously high - open a program and it jumps up to 80% for several seconds if you have it scanning ALL files.

And then if you look on their homepage and you see how they advertize this "new" version - like they invented new kind of security suite (see http://www.f-secure.com/f-secure/pressroom/news/fs_news_20070903_01_eng.html)

.. nice marketing effort but still good old (in some aspects frustrating) FSIS 2007.

I stay with Norton - just got new 3 users licence for 30Eur from ebay.
