how do i configure frozen snapshot so that i can allow windows update to take place?
You 1) Unfreeze it (select the option to keep freeze storage), 2) Run Windows Update, 3) Again Freeze the snapshot.
The updated snapshot will be frozen, BUT it will occur MUCH more quickly because you kept the stored frozen snapshot and FD-ISR only will need to update the already frozen version to match the snapshot you are freezing.
Crofttk is correct.
I just want to add that it is also possible to move the 'freeze' (which is actually an archive with that specific function) to a different location.
For example to a second internal harddisk, if you have one.
