The IP is part of British Telecom Inc. out of Ireland, about as far as I could get.

Well, according to my research, the server is in North Carolina/New York. Also, Google detects me as being in Indonesia when I'm connected to the VPN server that's provided.

Zero3K seems to be the person who has posted the most questions on their forum. NO answers from any admin etc that i could see ? and only 10 members since early June ?

    No privacy policy etc ?

    Spelling mistakes still present ?

    v1.gif

Used to be pay, but now free ?

No details of ownership etc ?

It all appears a bit of a cowboy operation, or "maybe" meant to, and doesn't give me a good feeling. I wouldn't be happy using it.

I'm wondering if VPN Steel = potentially VPN Steal

    @ Zero3K

You've used it, so what's your opinion ? Apart from the fact i expect it's quite fast due to hardly any users :D

How did you get that ? as i got Toronto Canada via several USA datacenters. The Email Address is gmail :D

Well, its fast but has a tendancy to temporarily lag any downloads I'm doing (if they're bigger than a certain amount of MBs). I just started using it and posted those messages earlier today so there's still a chance that they'll get responded to and acted upon (hopefully in a couple of days).

My bad. I mistyped the address into RIPE Search, (1)78.18.17.41 instead of what it should have been.
whois.arin.net doesn't have direct links to RIPE in the results, unless noscript has prevented them from appearing.

Well, the admin ended up responding to my messages. So, it seems like it'll be made even better soon.

Domain registration details do not look right to me, under ICANN rules anyone registering a domain name with incomplete or fake details can have the domain taken away. Their address in particular is not listed and it should be.

Well, since more than 300 users have joined the service, Its no longer free. At least he's allowing the people that already have an account to still be able to use it for free :).

Actually, its still free. The user just has to renew the 30 days after they're up.

Cheesy looking if you want to call that a site... :(

I mean come on, put up a dang CMS if you can't make a website to at least make something more professional...

I'd stay way clear of this!

In fact they used Zen Cart to build a site, LOL...

Well, what if the guy isn't that good at making a website? Btw, I don't think the site looks that bad. Its just very simplistic looking.

    Hi Zero3K,

Are you in anyway connected to VPN Steel, financially, organization/marketing or in any other way?

I ask because I noticed that you write the same posts, the exact same posts about VPN Steel here on WildersSecurity but also on Digsby forum, on Slyck.com forum, on DSLreports.com forum and on Comodo's forum.

Are these exact copy/pasted posts out of sheer enthusiasm or what?

(Of ben jij gewoon Hussein van InventReal BV uit Rotjeknor?)

There are things called CMS (Content Management Systems), so this is just being sheer lazy, in fact which I am, but yet I can even manage to make a better looking site.

Why trust someone that can't even put out some effort to make a slight level of professionalism is what I say...

Besides in a situation like this you don't even know who you are dealing with and if it's really safe to use a service like this, when it looks like this...

Going to Joe's Car Garage down the street to get a tire changed is one thing, having some guy(s) get access to you and your IP is another...

He clearly has a very close relationship:

    Twitter

    Facebook

and a huge number of posts all over the Internet touting VPNSteel.

Back to the old saying --- honesty is the best policy.

Baserk: Well, I just wanted to help get the word out. I'm not making any money by posting about the service.

DasFox: You could contact the admin of the site to offer your help in making the site better lookinh.

Yeah I've been a bit harsh and I see you're on the forum there.

So here's some help to pass their way...
