I tried the free HDM8, but bought the Drive Backup 8.51 Personal with a 50% upgrade discount for ATI10, and the $11 WinPE recovery disk. One thing it has is VSS support that is not included in the suite.

I submitted a support query for two problems:
    1. Does not appear to support quotas to limit backup images.
    2. Image is split into 2GB files ignoring the option setting.

I finally removed DriveImage 7 and am waiting for ShadowProtect 3.0.

'If you have two, you have one; If you have one, you have none!'
'Belts and Braces' is more succinct.

The help file is most instructive, i recommend reading it. Everything.
I read this "Data Sanitization", which supposedly wipes everything from a HD, even from "advanced forensic tools".
They describe it as better than erasing. I read that as implicit, it's not explicit in the text.
Reading it, makes me want to buy the whole package lol.

I tried it today. FF, IE, FlashGet, LeechGet all failed. I was able to download only with opera. My impresions are good so far. It has a nice GUI and is fast though compression is a bit less as compared to ATI( version7) on default setings.

Imaged my C partition 7.81 GB with 4.93 GB data. Image size was 2.53 GB with ATI while it is 3.4 GB with Paragon( approximately).

I also re-partitioned my C partition. System did reboot OK, though with a few glitches( power reset twice). However no major issues in my very short term trial.

    I have few questions BTW.

1- Why it needs to run chkdisk after partitioning( it was not so whe I used BING to partition).

2- It seems to have no reboot and restore function like ATI( for restore to C partition). Am I correct?

3- While using recovery CD I found no option to restore standard MBR or imaged MBR. Am I missing something? also recovery CD is not user friendly like ATI.

4- I can use one licence for one PC only? Anybody read the EULA( I have not it currently installed).

    Thansk for any answers!

    Hi Aigle,
    i can answer question 2.
i imaged the c: partistion and restored it.
i told it to restore the image to c: applyed changes it tryed but start but couldnt so it told me to reboot.
it restored the image and booted in to windows fine.
its nice to restore a successfull image.
i might buy the 8.5 drive backup for my main pc to replace ATI.
    4. the offer site says its for one pc only.
im waiting for a reply about a few question i asked paragon sales.

I am thrilled to have scored this program. I wonder - even before I have personally tested it - if this is the complete list of differences between the "SE" version and the paid Personal Edition. Are there are any important features missing that I would wish to spend my money on?

Could find no reference to "SE" (special edition) on their website.
Only a comparison of Personal vs. Professional:

then a second picture e.g. is the picture fire?
or if you get it wrong it gives you random sums or what fruit does this picture show.
i couldnt get the letters right so now i cant even try again.....

    @ Lodore:
Didn't understand your point until I went to the registration page.
The bitmap alpha-numeric picture fill-in thingie I've seen before, but arithmetic solutions required? That's a new one!
I do like the hint they offered for the arithmetic problem:

I finally made time & got it installed and went straight-way (since i'm familiar with Paragon) to resizing partitions, changing drive letters, deleting & creating partitions and the like and notice it's just like all Paragon productions i been using for years. Real user-friendly and fast as i need it to be without coughing up issues & glitches like some others i won't mention but are taken for popular these days.

Hmm, now i got a HDM6 & 8, and they both work fine. I like the GUI improvements and a little more detail in the latest versions of course. As always they work perfectly for my drives and ended the frustrations i suffered with the others long ago.

in the bacup screen you can tell it to backup the MBR as well as the partistions you want.
so go to the folder you put the images e.g. arc_ if you used standard options you should find two images files in the folder.
one e.g. GB in size and one KB in size.
the KB size one is the backed up MBR
if not go to the backup screen and just tick the MBR box to back it up.

You can change the setting to "Normal Compression" or "Best Compression".

    Aigle,

You need to select the whole disk, as opposed to a single partition:

I downloaded it because it is was free,( have the serial number) but wonder if I should install it. I use True Image 9.0 and it works well for me. I have restored images many times with fast and accurate results using TI. Does anybody know if Paragon and True Image would conflict with each other.
I would be interested in installing Paragon if I can do Partitioning with it and no conflicts with TI.

With Paragon Hard Disk Manager 8 you get the functionality of Acronis TrueImage AND Acronis Disk Director together. If you want to evaluate, you could start with the rescue CD, which is fully functional.
Paragon doesn't modify the MBR and unlike TrueImage it doesn't install a service. I think that a conflict is unlikely.
Upgrade fees of Paragon are very reasonable and they have frequent promotions.
