Free good Defragment Software!

    USA still the best. But barely.
    As well as boot time defrag. I occassionally defrag my registry. Defragging the registry of some computers has sped up the boot time tremendously.

    On XP, I've had very good luck with Defraggler. Its file placement algorithms have gotten much better lately. It works best on drives with a small amount of data though, in my experience. I'm using 13% of a 75gb drive and Defraggler keeps everything copacetic. :)

    That's for Vista and Win7 where System Restore uses VSS to store previous versions of files and snapshots as restore points.

    XP does not use VSS for system restore and VSS is not enabled as default, so unless you have enabled VSS there is no problem.

    I like MyDefrag too. Run its AutomaticDaily/Weekly/Monthly scripts through ScanDefrag for more options: http://majorgeeks.com/ScanDefrag_d5108.html

    I would say Defraggler if you want free.
    O&O Defrag if you want paid. :D
