It looks like most everyone in the forum, including Acronis, agrees that the version-9 software is seriously flawed (just read the posts to see how many folks are languishing with bad/unuseable software).

My version-9 software will only burn corrupt images -- never a good one, no matter WHAT work-around I try. Accronis support has been swamped and I know they are doing their best.

But the fact remains that many people can't use the software they've paid good money for.

I think it would be a nice gesture on the part of Acronis to offer these people two things that would prove their good faith -- that they DO care about their customers.

#1 For those who don't own version-8, let folks download this and use it until version-9 works. Surely this wouldn't cost Acronis anything, and folks could at least backup their data safely while waiting for version-9 to be fixed.

#2 A good-will gesture would be for Acronis to allow those who have purchased non-functioning version-9 software to have 1 extra license. That would be a "nice gesture" of good-will for folks who have PAID for software that didn't work. From reading the posts (and from my own experience) I have wasted TONS of time fighting the version-9 software. I'm angry. But I would feel a whole lot better if Acronis made the effort to "make this right" for all of the suffering.

One last comment. I realize bugs are a fact-of-life in software rollouts. I have developed software and weathered more rollouts than I care to remember. That being said, this software obviously wasn't ready for a rollout. The problems go WAY beyond what a reputable software company would allow, even with MINIMAL quality control testing.

Regarding the above #2 suggestion, this would ONLY be for people who have purchased the software, gone through the various Acronis support requirements, e.g. submitting the required file that their bug-utility software creates (so there wouldn't be any "cheating"). Surely it wouldn't be a burden for Acronis to do this.

If this solution wouldn't work, then perhaps a #3 option would be for Acronis could give a $25 rebate to those involved.

    Accronis, what do you think?

Here's an opportunity to "turn this around" to the positive for your customers who have stuck by you through this painful and embarassing mess.

They would be very smart to do something. I have been using the software since version 6. Therefore I know better than to jump in on a new version. However, most people would not know and they deserve better than this (version 9) release. It really was the most buggy ever.

I agree with all of the above posts.

My TI 7.0 worked really well. I only upgraded to 9.0 for Iomega Rev support.

I upgraded quicken once--what a disaster. I learned never to upgrade again unless I absolutely had to. If you have something that works, don't you dare upgrade it unless you have to or you might be sorry ;)

#1 would be enough for me. 9.0 is coming along and will be a damn good product when they get everything ironed out... in the meantime I just wish I had something that was a lot more reliable.

That's my preference if Acronis would do this for us.

    Acronis?

Competitor advertisement removed. This is the Acronis support forum, not the "spam-your-favorite-software-for-free" forum.

    Hey
Acronis was the one that let all of us down, I am just trying to point these guys to something that works.

But if you want to look at it as spam be my guest, I know the world has people like you out there. Your thoughts don't bother me. This is typical cover your own ass tactics.

Thanks for at least being honest,

Yes, as a volunteer moderator at Wilders forums who has been here years before the Acronis forum ever opened and having made no profit being a volunteer in that entire time except the good feeling to have helped someone out or to have helped maintain order in a helpful forum, I have a lot to cover for, don't I?

Reflecting, I suppose perhaps it is my law-enforcement training that doesn't allow me to let you slip such things by while mumbling to myself "hey that guy shouldn't use the SUPPORT forum we're hosting for Acronis as an ad-site..." but then again maybe it's just my common sense.

Go to the competitor's forum and make a post about how they should use Acronis instead... Wait, they don't have a forum... Well, either way - the fact remains that this forum here is for Acronis support issues - not editorials, not posts with malicious intent toward Acronis (or anyone else for that matter), and not attempts to promote or push competitor software.

As this thread serves no further purpose, we'll close it ... But lets try to keep in mind the above mentioned by Detox as we move forward. ;)
