Why is every after 43 pages I've read there is some random discussion about beating up MSE yet again? Anyway, in some free AVs the ad popups can be disabled. So IMO it really isn't that hard to find a nag-less free AV. If things hasn't been much changed Avast! can be configured to not giving you ad popups. What's going to be a challenge would be AVs which integrates ads into the main GUI. There's no way to remove/hide them. And apparently this has become a cool trend these days.
The firewall features have a lot more options aimed at firewall tweekers. But I cant say the HIPS were any different, but yes there are differences such as no breaking of internet connects and restore from the quarantine in the free version. There are work arounds though.
Avira free is not what it used to be anymore. Now, there's only a small notification once in a while, in the tray area.
Ok... it's been a while since I used it, and it used to be terrible, that's why I switched to others....
I'd suggest Avira free...compared to what I have used it's probably the best regarding that (referring to latest version).
Not anymore...http://www.pctools.com/en/product-eol/index/faq/security/ FWIW incase anyone have missed that.
@siketa Thanks. how an they afford it with no paid products? I do not like that it uninstalls other programs when installing it if i understand correctly
