I seriously don't understand how they went from 4.3 to 5.0, shouldn't this be reserved for major releases? I still think Vivaldi is the best browser ever made, but they should focus on adding more important features.

 

I just wish they'd focus on making it work on Linux.

 

It does work on linux,although the 32bit version seems to have halted at 3.7...Which problems are you experiencing with the linux version.

 

And BTW, to give some more info about what I would like to see in Vivaldi 5.0:

1 More smooth website loading, other browsers like Edge sometimes feel more snappy.
2 Tab Stacking should be improved, when closing the first or last tab, you should be able to stay inside the tabstack.
3 A better password manager with support for 2FA authenticators.
4 A better adblocker, with a nicer looking GUI like for example Ghostery.
5 A super drag and drop function for quickly saving images.
6 Auto popup of the menubar, address-bar and tab-bar in full screen mode.
7 Paste and Go should always open in a new tab.

I wouldn't be surprised & I wouldn't blame them if Vivaldi followed in Opera's footsteps. That is in couple years sell Vivaldi for a billion dollars (that was Opera's price). Then again wait out the inevitable 2 year non-compete clause. Rinse & repeat.

 

I can't see von Tetzchner selling out. He's an idealist.

 

Needs approximately 5million+ users to be sustainable and profitable.

 

But to who would he sell it? I personally hope they will be succesful enough to stay independent. But I feel they should focus more on making Vivaldi a privacy friendly browser, similar to Brave. This will attract more users. And I still don't understand why Vivaldi hasn't made a deal with Google, even Mozilla is getting a revenue of $500 million because of Google Search being the default search engine.
