format a usb key enough xp?

    Hi
    i have a question
    i have several kingston datatraveler

    is safe to format with xp , or is better use some utility?

    Depends on the flash drive maker. Most say to use the PC's format command. A few have their own special application. I would check Kington's website for that model drive...

    I just use the built in xp format option. I have like 10 usb flashdrives and haven't had any problems using this method.

    I've heard the HP tool to be a favor amongst users and Pendrivelinux users. Though I have no idea how 'reliable' it is for security reasons.

    The built in one with windows seems fine. Just run it over a bunch of times and don't use the 'quick' format option.

    the xp format could erase a boot usb key?
