FooBar has Very nice sound quality even without any plug-ins. One thing that bothers me about it however is the inability to reduce the player to a small unobtrusive size. I did find a plug-in that is supposed to address this issue

    Advanced Controls (foo_advancedcontrols)
    http://fb2k.org/section.php?section=8
Control all the playback functions of FooBar2000 from icons in the Taskbar Notification Area (that is - the tray)

But I do not know how to implement it. I extracted the files but there is no info on what to do with them. Any help will be appreciated.

I would prefer a small console type setup to something residing on the task-bar so if anyone knows how I get this I would be grateful.

I also am not terribly impressed with the programs documentation. Again, if anyone knows of a good documentation source I would appreciate if they could let me know about it.

bgoodman4, I don't use Foobar but perhaps The Foobar2000 Wiki has the documentation you are looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion but I had looked at the Wiki and not found any information about installing 3rd party plug-ins. In the meantime I will continue using MediaMonkey and JetAudio Basic until I get a FooBar interface I am comfortable with.

bgoodman4, maybe a visit to the 3rd Party Plugins Foobar forum could shed more light. I'm out of bullets. ;)

    Hi bgoodman4,
    i use Advanced Controls:

1, With Foobar closed, unzip contents to \foobar2000\components.
2, Launch Foobar, File/Preferences, scroll down the left hand pane and select Advanced controls under the tools section.
3, Paste the following into the title section:

    $if(%title%,[%tracknumber% - ]%title%,%_filename%)

4, Paste the following into the Format section:

    [Artist: %artist%
    ][Album: %album%
    ][File: %_filename_ext%
    ][Length: %_length%
    ][%__bitrate%kbps ][%__bitrate_dynamic%kbps ][%__samplerate%Hz]

5, Select your skin and your good to go.
