    Greetings,

To All Users, Supporters and Friends of FirstDefense: There will be a Windows 7 compatible version of FirstDefense-Rescue released in the near future through a new business partner. Please stand by for an announcement within the next 30 days.

Nov 17th Update: Things are moving a little more slowly than anticipated. However, in the very near future I will give you all the details of the new Rescue product and our new partner. Hopefully within the next 10 days.

Nov 24th Update: We apologize for all the delays. Although exciting times, our latest partner has asked that announcements be deferred until Q1 2010. I really want to let the cat out of the bag, but going to wait until then.

    Best regards,

Speculation time: if it is Rescue, then it will probably be the stripped down version. Of course a new business partner, I guess, can always give us cause for hope, maybe, but I'm not holding my breath (hope I'm wrong). :doubt:

Sorry to beat the same old topic. I wonder if rescue version can be updated and offered, why not the old classical one as well, through some interested partner, if there is any.

:D Todd, this is really good news, even if isn't the old 'classic'.
I'm on Windows 7 RC (x64) and have been missing FDISR.

This will be excellent timing for my Windows 7 RTM. Will definitely be buying this.

could the partner be CS-Solutions, Inc?

    Product Overview
Platinum CS Protectionä has significant feature differentiators that are realized by the way the product is designed and architected. Platinum CS Protection has the ability to create snapshots of the current operating system and applications. The product has a unique ability to anchor data that is accessible by all the snapshots created and stored on both fixed and mobile assets. The alternately stored snapshot(s) is separated from the running system (OS and Applications) such that cross corruption is not possible. Accordingly, when a system error occurs, the severity of the failure is irrelevant because the saved alternate snapshot is not affected. When an OS or Application becomes corrupted by malware, worms, virus infections, or for any other reason, the end-user has the ability to immediately recover the system without IT support being available. Another functional benefit is that following a system recovery, full access to all the data that was anchored prior to the failover recovery is current to the point of failure. This product feature is one of the major differentiators from traditional backup utilities.

Worried about Compliance and maintaining an accreditation software baseline?

Due to the nature of maintaining a true compliance state, IT managers are challenged in locking-down the OS and Application layers (baseline). Without Platinum CS Protection, those IT baseline administrators who are responsible for building and maintaining the baseline, have NO control over their IT counterparts in the field because they have administrative privileges and can add or delete application as they see fit regardless of compliance directives. The “Freeze“ option is popular in environments that have heavy compliance regulations and a requirement to lock-down an operating system and its applications. Freeze automatically affords a true compliance state (as originally deployed) every time the system is rebooted. With Platinum CS Protection, baselines can be locked-down. PCSP provides a unique application baseline password capability for the IT baseline administrator.

How does this solution enhance current Security applications and tools?

Using the Freeze option, Platinum CS Protection provides a security dimension to the OS and Application levels. For example, an asset used to surf the web can gain malware, worms, botware and viruses while viewing websites. By simply rebooting the asset, all virus intrusions, etc are eliminated and the asset is immediately returned to its clean compliance state.

When using the latest security scanning tools, rules can now be employed to scan the data anchored area upon reboot, without end-user impact due to the way PCSP is architected. Each time the system is rebooted, the only areas or files that are not replaced, per se, are the data anchored areas, thus maintaining a high-level of security, which otherwise would not be realized because of the time and system resources it takes to perform a disk scan upon every reboot.

    Seems to be.

BTW rescure version is not a big deal IMO. An image backup will do the same IMO( just). Wish to see the older version in full.

From the screenshots I've seen (CS Solutions), it will be the *full* version of FirstDefense-ISR, not the butchered version offered by HorizonData Sys. Still, this is just a speculation, so I am eagerly awaiting for Todd's official confirmation.

To me screenshot shows only two snapshots, one active and the other as backup. So it seems rescue version only.

I looked again and seems you are right. It says two of ten snapshots.

Oh, man, if I am wrong and if this is all correct then this is great! This is the only reason why I never made the jump to Vista and was not going to jump to Win7 either. If Leapfrog really does release a Win7 version of Classic FirstDefense, then Win7 here I come!!

Perhaps it's time to reign in the speculation a bit.

Perhaps the link provided is germane, perhaps not, I simply don't know. That company (as currently portrayed at their own website) seems focused on the US Federal government in general, and DOD in particular, as their customer base. It doesn't appear focused on the end-use consumer.

Before speculation runs wild, let's wait on the official news. I know it will be a short wait before that occurs.

But speculation is so much fun that it is almost worth the disappoint if the daydreaming does not become fact. :D

    Hi Todd !

THANK YOU for keeping us in the loop.

There has been much speculation about FD-ISR since we became aware of your break with Horizon.

Good to know the product will continue in some form and is still progressing.

I will now consider doing the move to Win7 sooner rather than later.

    Best Regards.
