    Greetings All,

Leapfrog Software is pleased to announce the release of the latest version of FirstDefense-Rescue, now with Windows 7 and 64-bit compatibility. We are also introducing workstation and server versions which have all the features of the Lite version plus browsing, recovering, and updating of individual files and folders from the rescue area. They also include scheduling and a command line interface.

You can find the new FirstDefense-Rescue technology here

We are also thrilled to announce that this new release will be available both directly through Leapfrog Software and through a new business partner, with details about the new business partner to be forthcoming soon.

For all prior customers of FirstDefense-Rescue and FirstDefense-ISR, we are offering you a special introductory discount of 25% of off MSRP – good through March 31st. Details are below on how to get this discount.

Support: A key factor in the past had to do with support. Support will be available through the FAQs and through other users at the Wilder’s Security Forum. Email support for purchases made through the Leapfrog site will be provided by another partner through a Leapfrog email address. There will be a fee for this email support, although as part of our introductory offer email support will be provided at no cost through March 31, 2010.

The new Wilder's Security Forum support area for FirstDefense-Rescue technology can be found here

For those who were anticipating that the “classic” FirstDefense-ISR would again be available through Leapfrog, we must report that it is not. Leapfrog sold its intellectual property rights of the classic version to an entity which is pursuing an entirely different market segment with significant additional features and at a substantially higher price. It is not currently being offered to “the general public”.

However, you will find a host of new features in Rescue, and our road map includes adding new features and capabilities over time.

Discount to prior customers: You need to submit the following information in an email: 1) Which FirstDefense product you own, 2) from whom you acquired it, and 3) your license key. Send your email with this information to: offer@leapfrogsoftware.com, on or before March 31, 2010. You will receive a return email with your discount coupon information. Remember, the earlier you buy, the larger the window of time for free email tech support.

I thank you for your continued support.

    Hello Todd,

    Congrats for your new toy.

Some thoughts about the new FD-R:

    - I think that you should offer limited browsing and recovering to the lite version too, at least for the user personal folders, the desktop, etc. Data – anchoring technology confuses newcomers and if they have not configured it right they will lose data during the trial, and they‘ll discard it because of this.

    - Consider adding support for extra languages with the ability to use custom *.lng files with Unicode support. We could help you translating in our native languages (I can help with Greek and Italian). It will make it more competitive in the international market.

    - 7 days trial is a no go. It is true that it can be fully tested during that period but you give the users no opportunity to get addicted to it. 21 or 30 days trial will get you more customers. (Personally I had to try FD-ISR 3 times!! in a 6 month period before convincing myself to buy a license).

Which key should we send you; the original one or the current key that you provided us? :p

ps. Sorry for the really dummy question, but the coupon will expire on 31 March or we can use it to make the purchase a bit later? :p

    Best regards,
    Panagiotis

    Greetings All,

Thanks! All good comments to present to my staff.

Q: Which key should we send you; the original one or the current key that you provided us?
A: I prefer the later one I assigned to all of you. I will accept both, but boatloads easier to look up the one I assigned (newest) since I managed them at that time.

Q: Will the coupon will expire on 31 March or we can use it to make the purchase a bit later?
A: The coupon will expire on March 31st. The website will accept the coupon only up to that date.

    Greetings Panagiotis,

I am intrigued by your comment on different languages. Are you really interested in performing this translation of the product and some of the website material? We would be willing to make it worth your while. Think about it and PM me.

sad to know that the new FD-ISR rescue is still deprived from multple snapshots and archives which are essential features for me
and i still can not imagine after putting such great efforts in the new version they still prefer to cut away apiece from the cake
todd is there any intention of restoring the missing features in the new FD-ISR rescue

Please re-read the announcement. It is all there. I don't want to sound rude, but we really have to move on.

Along the way we have been creating more and more unique technologies, yet to be released to the public market. I think you will like how we move forward into the future. I am stoked about it.

Can't deny my disappointment, but realistically, we were warned many times not to get our hopes up too high.

Personally, I am just grateful to have had the wonderful experience of using the original FD for a few years, and enjoying the incredible support from Todd.
Obviously he must make decisions that make commercial sense to his company, and this he has done.

The fact is that eventually when I have to retire my FD to upgrade the OS, I will feel that I have lost the most valuable piece of software that I have ever used.

However, I will be watching the Leapfrog products carefully for any of their future developments, in the hope of finding a piece of software equally unique..

My respect to Todd and all at Leapfrog.

Is this with additions to FirstDefense Rescue?

If so then what are your plans/costs for future upgrades to FirstDefense Rescue.
Would this be a yearly upgrade or version upgrade?

    Thanks Todd.
