While I commend Eset on the look of the new "Smart Security", one thing I do NOT want to see, and will make me look at another product, is this being the only product offered when it leaves Beta.

I don't want a Firewall. I want Anti-virus. Now, if Eset is going to be releasing two versions, the Smart Security with Firewall, and a NOD32 w/o Firewall, i'm all good with that.

But for the time being, DON'T force the Firewall upon people who dont want it.

    My .02, otherwise, great job!

NOD32 Anti-Virus will be available as stand-alone, as it always has been.

You will have the option of getting the ESS suite or the Stand-Alone.

Umm it has been stated several times by ESET that there will be both a suite and a stand-alone AV product available.

the eset smart security suite is beta, and the antivirus part is being tested well before the antivirus only version :D
this will make it more mature for the antivius version only :thumb:

    Hello,

Perhaps you will find this screen capture from the online help for ESET Smart Security Public Beta 1 of interest:

As you can see, ESET NOD32 Antivirus includes both antivirus and antispyware functionality and ESET Smart Security includes these and adds the firewall and antispam functionality.

Question: Why regard the Antivirus and AntiSpyware as separate modules when you can make just one module called AntiMalware? o_O

The more I look at ESS the more I am reminded of AVG for some reason. :D

    Hello,

Currently, virus and spyware remediation are actually handled by the same modules. They are just broken out separately to show that ESET Smart Security handles both types of threats. As to why they are not referred to categorically as malware I really couldn't say--it might have something to do with the fact that the term "malware" is less widely-used than "virus" or "spyware," but that is just a guess on my part.
