So the workaround for a bug in Vista and newer OS with network connections exhaustion did its job. This problem can also be fixed using the ESET NDIS repair tool described here.

This problem also showed up on my XP SP3 box, and was solved by installing 4.2.58.

I had ESS 4.2.22 beta installed and decided to switch over to avast 5. Eset always leaves all sorts of folders and reg entries. I think it must be that I'm running Win7 Ultimate. The commonly found uninstall utility downloaded from Holland, or somewhere, did not work on my OS.
Well, after spending way too much time googling the answer with no luck, I finally got those miniports out of my device manager. Really ~ Snipped as per TOS ~ that I could not take ownership of the registry keys and delete them!!! I finally found the answer. Followed the link from marcos and it lead me to this fix.

Booted in safe mode and ran the ESET UNINSTALLER as ADMIN.
