Sounds that way. Just don't install it as an upgrade or your profile will be updated and you won't be able to go back without deleting the profile.

Yup makes sense thanks. I was just hoping it was more like how Chrome is where you can install multiple builds.

yes, it's absolutely doable. but as i said in my previous post, it will not be portable anymore. it'll leave a mess behind in the registry and user profile after every session.

thats not correct. Firefox is still portable, only the call within system do not end up on firefox.exe instead firefox_loader.exe. you still can call the loader directly to run firefox as portable.

you don't get it. theoretically yes it's portable but practically speaking it's not because it leaves traces behind in the registry and user profile thus it defeats the purpose of using the portable.

I get your point now. This is what i strictly separate. Portable means portable and all traces where kept there. What happens around is different, you can add it by tweak and remove it that quickly. It's the same thing when firefox crashes, it d not only create crash reports in the used profile, windows itself creates WER records and entries in the "Zuverlässigkeitsverlauf". or c:\windows\prefetch\

This is not a rare case - people use firefox portable as a browser at a fixed place, but point URL or HTML links to the portable starter. This was not intended by creators, but possible.
