    When I saw that 53 dropped support for XP and Vista I hoped that it would perform a little better as a result. I don't know if that is entirely the reason, but it is definitely faster that other recent versions have been. I can even run the 64 bit version on my laptop with very little lag now. I also like the new compact themes that are included. I have new hope for Firefox.

    I wonder if dropping support for XP and Vista means they actually removed code, or if it means they no longer guarantee compatibility? In any case it's time to move on.

    CF 52 longer supports Vista and FF is following suit.

    Advice for XP & Vista users is to upgrade to Windows 7 or 10.

    53 is out? I just got 52 the other day. Or do you mean beta? If so, this is good news. I may give Firefox a shot again.

    It's the beta referenced above in post 756. I don't know if there was any code cleanup or not, but it is running much better for me than recent versions have been. 64 bit would usually choke on my laptop, but this is still doing well into the second day. I am quite impressed.

    Are you running 52 in both 32 bit and 64 bit versions? Do you think there's a reason to use 64 bit at this point, eg performance or security?

    I am currently running 64 bit. I had previously used the 32 bit on my laptop because the 64 bit would use over 500 MB of RAM for a single tab and choke. I prefer the 64 bit for better security. With Firefox 64 bit was actually slower than 32 bit (for me anyway) but this build seems to have fixed that for me.

    It looks like they are being influenced by Microsoft Edge. I have come to like Australis so hopefully there will be a way to continue using it.

    i cant use edge, either due LTSB or not possible. maybe.
    there will be an API for modifying the UI but that would be pretty much limited, not as today.
    mini themes as today are available without changes.
