Think is Firefox just checking for available updates, to disable it just go to
tools, advanced, software update, and than uncheck boxes for periodically
check for updates to Firefox, and to My Extensions, and Themes, click ok
close the Firefox options box out and see if that than solves your strange
    connection problem.

I'll agree with Wake also concerning the Mozilla.org entries as it relates to Firefox updates. The one thing I notice is port 443(HTTPs) which they went to end of last year I believe :doubt:
