Regarding these multi-account containers, is anyone looking to use them in the context of privacy-oriented segregation, without needing to invoke separate Firefox profiles (and/or Firejail private directories)? They seem to have the reasonably desirable characteristics of cookie segregation and automatic assignment of site-to-container. The way I was imagining using the thing within a given browser profile (with corresponding settings and add-ons), is to have separate containers for each of the social media gorillas individually (pinned to a container as the only member) and only for those sites - the other general sites going into the more general categories. Or is there a better way of achieving that?

My impression of this add-on is that it's promising but not there yet - I'd actually like way more control and ability to set things up with some simple list files. Perhaps I'm expecting too much from it!

I am by no means an expert, so hesitate to respond to your post, but I am using the Temporary Containers add-on for all new sites / tabs, but using a Multi-Account Personal container for Gmail, to give permanence to the login cookie required for that. That tip was given to me by the Temporary Containers dev and it works fine.

I had envisaged also using a separate Multi-Account Personal container for Facebook (and Twitter), as I think it would achieve the same as this new Facebook container add-on, though I haven't tested it yet (as I am not an avid or frequent user!).

Try it. Would be interested in your views / feedback.

Yes, I'm doing this for searx.me where I saved my search preferences in a cookie. In the Isolation -> Per Domain tab of Temporay Containers I selected Disabled for "Always open in new Temporary Container" and checked "Allow to load in Permanent Container".

For Facebook not needed - Temporary Containers works well there with standard settings.

@paulderdash - no expert either! The thing I'm wrestling with is whether or not this will be as effective as might be for privacy. I get that it helps with cookies. The main issue I'm wondering about is following links from inside one of the containers. By default, these will open in the same container, unless the referred site is already specified in another container (useful), or the user chooses a different container. The problem being that, usually, that link/referral will be "dirty" so that the destination site will "know" the source reference regardless of the container any of them may or may not be in.

So in that sense, I want the link to be clean, so that it opens a new tab without tracking rubbish in it.

Well, the Temporary Container author writes:
Besides, you can control the referrer with other add-ons like uMatrix.

I temporarily disabled referrer spoofing in uMatrix, searched in searx.me (loaded in a temp. container) for "referer check", clicked the search result "What is my Referer?" which opened https://www.whatismyreferer.com/ in a new temp. container. Result:
So this confirms what I mentioned above.

Another wave of spam add-ons hits Mozilla Firefox AMO
When you list available extensions for the Firefox browser based on recency right now on Mozilla AMO, the official Mozilla Add-ons repository store, you will stumble upon a list of extensions that promise free 4K streams of popular movies such as Ready Player One, Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War, or Pacific Rim Uprising.

Could anyone explain to me/help me with the following strange issue.
I cannot install one Firefox add-on - eCleaner(Forget Button) on one of my Win 10 computers.
I was able to install that add-on on all but one Windows 10 computer.

I've tried to restart my Firefox without any add-ons but still could not install that eCleaner.

I'm always getting the same message that my Firefox needs to be updated, but it IS updated.

as ronjor pointed out eCleaner ist NOT compatible to current 59.02, AMO sais not compatible qith quantum which include v57 and newer.
so at least you only could have it installed on v56 or earlier.

anyway Firefox dont need such crap.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-browsing-search-download-history-firefox
which is different from pressing ctrl+shift+del

    hell eCleaner is rather old
last update 2011 and was auto-signed which means author abandonned it 7 years ago befor signing became mandatory. geez.

the ecleaner button is the alternative as webextension.

btw concerning your picture - either you are currently using firefox 52 or you have a fraud user agent. start a fresh profile to get rid of the remnants of pre-Quantum failure.

    create a new profile

This article explains how to selectively transfer Firefox user data and settings to a new Firefox profile

    Here is what I did.
I've completely "refreshed" my Firefox and re-installed my add-ons.
    User Agent Switcher
    Privacy Settings
    No Script
    Cookie Auto Delete
    WebRTC
    uBlock
    Canvas Defender
    Disconnect me
    Privacy Badger.

Here is why I like a one click cleaner like eCleaner.
I tend to clean my history quite often and ANY "one-click" cleaners are good to me.
Just try to show the steps in order to follow the regular Firefox cleaning method.
    Now.
Until Firefox creates a "one-click" button, I will use eCleaner or anything else.

I know it's not a "one-click" solution, but I use Ctrl+Shift+Delete keyboard combination to quickly clean FF and IE history.

Thnx, I've missed that one :) I've set up FF to erase history when closed, but that's a nice feature also :thumb:

Thank you for your recommendation, but I don't like it for the following reason.
It cleans and closes Firefox completely. I don't know how to prevent that "Close all Windows".
