OK, my bad. This just shows how tricky it is to keep extensions apart from each other, so always make sure you download the right one.

But with CocoCut you can easily capture the HLS streaming which is automatically saved in MP4.
On various websites VideoDownloadHelper fails to do the same job.

Just tested it in Firefox in a virtual machine snapshot, but it won't even download from YouTube... :(

    I'll stick with yt-dlp. :)

I believe that the use of these extensions does not have YT as a primary target.
Usually, downloading HLS streaming in MP4 format from YT can be done easily with other apps.
With chrome-based browsers another extension is available that I personally prefer to CocoCut,but it has the same limitation for YT.

In both Firefox and Chromium, I have made it so that I can download straight via the right-click menu. No limitations whatsoever. :)

Yt-dlp's options are read from it's config file.

I do admit that a program like yt-dlp can be confusing for a new user...

Yes correct, it will often fail. I didn't know about CocoCut, thanks for the tip. :thumb:

But are you sure the extension you use can be used on other websites besides YT?
In the website I provided, it fails.

    Do another test:

With chrome-based browsers I prefer Stream Recorder, besides it seems faster to me.

Yt-dlp itself is not an extension, but the extension "Open With" is used to access it via the browser.
It supports more than a thousand websites and will even work on more sites using the generic extractor.

The site you mentioned is somewhat problematic (m3u8 links), but if you ask nicely, I'm sure the devs will come up with something. ;):)

If you give yt-dlp this m3u8 link it downloads the short video:
    Code:
    yt-dlp https://cdn.jwplayer.com/manifests/9BABvLzC.m3u8
m3u8 link can be found via dev tools or with an extension like "The Stream Detector".

For me it is useless, since you can block the cookies warning in the browser.

It also circumvents the redirect to the google consent page.

Good to know. I started using it since blocking cookies in uBO works most of the time, but sometimes it does not.

    You need to do this:

    P.S.
Obviously the procedure with Firefox is different but the principle is identical.

    I know. ;)
Tried that before, but it somehow gave other problems. Can't remember what that was however.
Since I installed this extension all is well now. :)

The point is, that I want certain cookies to stay on my system, like on YouTube: 'VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE' and 'PREF'.
