So is SOL not actually doing anything in FF4...although it`s got a green tick and active ?

Have you got the tab in FF4?
Did you have to do anything extra to get it? if so, can you share your experiences.
I've asked previously from Prevxhelp but got no reply.
    Thanks

If you have the green tick, then it is active and working. I haven't seen that in my Firefox 4 installation here but it's possible that some copies would have backward compatible interfaces and Prevx would be able to pick those up. It would be interesting to know if you have any specific skins installed as those could affect it as well.

Sorry for the confusion - I was referring to the green tick in the Prevx interface window, implying that SOL is simply on and active....

there is no tab in FF4 here.

I was wondering if SOL was working in the background protecting FF4 although no tab is visible, and it was merely a graphical error - or whether it`s not protecting at all due to the lack of the tab.

If SOL is actively protecting a browser session, the green tick in the main Prevx window will change into a lock.

Thanks, I always wondered why that used to change ! o_O

It`s certainly not working here in that case.

Okay but that doesn't fully address the issue. Not everybody who has paid for SafeOnline will want to run beta software, and for those who don't the choice will be to either stick with Firefox 3 for quite a while longer OR upgrade to Firefox 4 and give up on SafeOnline until Prevx 4 is out of beta, neither of which is entirely satisfactory IMO.

This is the reason I have returned to Avira. It seems funny how the different security apps respond to a new browser. Opera 11 has been out awhile now and no Prevx support. I will say that Prevx is not the only one. Norton also will not support Firefox4 untill April sometime. Will try the Prevx4 later.

Supporting Firefox 4 in Prevx 3 is more complex and time intensive than it was to support Windows 7 in its entirety. When implementing protection like SafeOnline which modifies many points of the browser and is intimately integrated within it, it requires a substantial amount of work. I'm not surprised that Norton is taking longer to add it as well as Safe Web is a much deeper integration than most security products.

So what do Opera 11 users have to wait for?

Can you give us a list of Browsers that will be fully supported in Prevx 4?

We have that will be fully supported:
    Firefox 4
    Opera 11
    IE8/IE9

    TIA,

    TH

Chrome 10 and Safari 5 as well (and IE6/7 and Firefox 3) but any program can be added to SafeOnline's protection in Prevx 4 :)

I am running FF4. SOL is not functional therewith. Ergo, I have disabled SOL. >>In the interim until SOL works with FF4, I have switched to SpyShelter for keylogger & browser protection.

How will I know when SOL works with FF4 so I can switch back?

I wouldn't recommend anyone staying with Firefox 3.6.x just to have Prevx SafeOnline. Reason being is, I don't think Mozilla has to support updates to that version any longer, and therefore, the exploits that will be discovered by cyber-criminals will become so numerous that you are better off just updating your browser and using the identity protection built-in to Mozilla until Prevx 4 comes out.

I could be wrong...maybe Mozilla still updates version 3?

They'll still support 3.6 for some time, though I'm not sure for how long. They also stated they would still support 3.5 till August last year, when 3.6 was released in Januari last year. However, even up till now, 3.5 got security updates when 3.6 got them, so I think you don't have anything to worry about.

Thanks for the clarification. I use Firefox 4 on my PC but still use 3.6 on my netbook because FF4 doesn't support a website I need access too...heh...MathXL.
