Ubuntu is offering Firefox updates to people still on the LTS versions. Since the updates take people from 3.6.x to 9.0, there's rage building :D

What is so bad about that? Remember that firefox changed their version numbering scheme with 4.0. So 9.0 is in reality like 4.5.

Well, they should to keep Firefox updated once 3.6 reaches end-of-life for long-term support.

Weird move. Why they can't wait for the first Extended Support Release (ESR) Firefox? FX 10 will be the first ESR release, expected to come in just a few days (January, 31).

Who knows, they may still do that. Just updated all of my virtual machines. Ubuntu 10.04, 10.10, and 11.04 all updated to Firefox 9.01. Of course support for 10.10 and 11.04 end this year so maybe they don't care about the extended support Firefox. Especially for 10.10 which ends in April. Too bad, it was my favorite if the bunch. :(
