The Flash video from the link below blocks a portion of the article's text, even if I temporarily allow all in NS, allow in AdBlock+ and allow 3rd party cookies. It renders fine in IE 8. Does anyone else see this?

Thanks Cudni! Maybe just a rendering issue with Firefox I guess?

I see the same cropped image in both Browsers - could be how the web page was edited ? Site serves up a whole pile of ads, though.

Maybe it is the webpage, although it does render fine in IE 8. Oh well, I'm not going to worry about. I just thought it might be a Firefox issue. Thanks!

I'm not seeing problems on the site myself, but if you really want to hide the video you can always right click on the element. Then depending on which either is preferable:

right click, view this frame, new tab.
*works great for getting sites just right.

right click, inspect element, hide or delete
*makes sure you select the right element. If you make mistake reload page.

Amit, if you want Flash in Firefox, you need to install the plugin.

    @Bo and @Wilder Hunter
Oh I see. I thought Chrome has build-in pdf reader and flash player. And since Firefox followed the trend and is now offering built-in pdf reader it must have also offered a flash player in last release. Oh well.

You're right! BTW, I really miss the notification in Firefox that said your Firefox has been updated to the latest version after each successful update.

    How to switch to ESR

If the regular Firefox is already installed in Ubuntu, is there any easy way to switch to ESR?

With all these updates, one could see such notifications becoming annoying for a majority really fast.

    I have a question.

Is the browser, Firefox, really good without add-ons?
I use Firefox because of the add-ons.

I only use one addon (ABP) and it's good enough for me. It's not sandboxed like Chrome, but I think it's fine.

Firefox is fine without add-ons, but personally I find they replace most third party software that I'd need for security, ad control, etc. I'd say the only must have along side a browser like firefox or internet explore is an application sandbox like sandboxie or a VM. Just because browsers with and without extensions do not guarantee protection against drive-by downloads and other malicious agents. What you do beyond that is your choice. I known people that don't run real-time anti-virus that have been using Firefox + Sandboxie without issue, but I'm not to too quick to dismiss that their browsing practices certainly help. I'd also like to add that you really can't go wrong with a browser. I've been using Firefox along side Chrome and Opera. Probably the browser I personally distrust is internet explorer. Use the browser that you believe offers you the best protection and overall usage.
