    The history...

    I have a lot of MP3 files that I decieded to backup as it took a long time to encode my CD collection. It ended up being a 76gig image.

    I backed the MP3s up using file backup.

    I then formatted my system drive.

    Upon trying to restore my MP3 file archive I get the following error

    Failed to restore file or folder "track 1.mp3

    Failed to resotre file or folder. (0x4001A)
    Path = "F:\my music\2 many DJs\PG5G6MTI.TMP
    Hints = 1
    Access is Denied. (0xFFF0)
    code = FFFFFFFF80070005: Rety/Ignore/Cancel
    ------
    Now I know this has to do with file permissions. Acronis is telling me when it has restored the temp file it is denied access to rename it. If I look at the permissions on the temp file I can see that I have no access to it.

    My problem is how do I take permissions of files that havnt been restored yet? If i try this from the acronis boot CD it says the image is not valid. Yet it read and tests fine once booted into XP.

    I have tried permissions on the actuial image file...no good.

    I have booted into safe mode....no good it cant start the resotre schedule service or something.

    Is there another acronis product which can overcome this problem?

    What about using something like windows 95 which has no type of permissions if I remember rightly??

    PLEASE ANY1 HELP ME!!!! I cant lose all my MUSIC !!! :(

    Hello be_vigilant,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

    Please try pressing the "Ignore" button, it should allow Acronis True Image 9.0 to proceed with the restoration of your mp3 files.

    If that does not help then please provide us with the following information:

    - Create Acronis Report and Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post;

    - What exact version and build number of Acronis True Image do you use?

    You can find the full version name and build number by going to Help -> About... menu in the main program window;

    - Where did the files that you try to restore were located originally?

    - Let us know whether you try to restore these files to their original location?

    - Where do you store the backup?

    - Make the screen shots of your consequent steps taken during the image restiration process along with the screen shots of all error\warning\informational messages that you receive;

    - Describe actions taken before the problem appears step-by-step.

    Please submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
