I'll guess that Trustport, BitDefender and Norman will be ahead NOD, because both Bitdefender and Norman were ahead NOD in Av-Test.org and AVG will be ahead Avast too.

    Best regards,

AV-test.org has been known to show somewhat different results as compared to AV-comparatives. Both are reliable but I guess the differences are mainly due to the sample sets used.

I guess that more AV engines will go up to the Advanced or Advanced+ levels. I have high hopes for F-Prot and AVG. I don´t expect great surprises. The really interesting tests will be the retrospective in May.

AV-Test.org uses only this year samples, the more time goes, the more AV-Test.org and Av-Comparatives.org results are very close each other.

their results are far from similar. They use very little samples compared to Av-comparative tests.

Norman and bitDefender wlll definitely not score higher than NOD32. trustport may potentially since it gets the combined improvement of Avast and norman

TrustPort was not inclued in the latest av-test comparative and neither bitdefender or norman beat NOD32 in the test. Both norman and NOD32 missed 1 sample while bitdefender missed 2 samples

Av-Comparatives added 77.668 new samples after the 02-2006 test to the test 08-2006 in Total without DOS viruses/malware category.

AV-test.org used samples in all malware test detected this year almost 469.000 and even in the latest trojan like samples test 289.682 samples.

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

Both are OK, just the time interval is difference. The more we can see AV-Test.org tests, the more they are similar to Av-Comparatives because infections are increasing every year.

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

Or many of them are modified a sort of we don't know. :)

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

PS. Personally, what's the difference if you are using an av with a detection rate about 95 % instead of 99 %, if you are using a kind of HIPS and/or Sandbox too? I couldn't even use that free Spyware Doctor because everything was halted. The total protection is the only that matters and the low CPU usage too.

results do not differ that much - it is just that they included backdoors, trojans and worms, but not viruses etc.
i still do not believe that the samples are all from this year, because what i noticied indicates me that also other older samples are included in that number.
i think next year there will be not many reach A+, as the dos category is not counted anymore, a large amount of samples will be added, etc. - so its getting more difficult to reach A+ (if the vendors do not continuosly improve and add samples they do not detect).

So you are not changing the Award requirement levels (detection % to get certain Award)?

Can't believe there's a thread trying to predict on results that are not even close to being released, and arguments about such predictions!

I don´t think that predicting is bad. Quite a bit of people like to test their AVs and watch their evolution(engine updates, signatures added, etc). So, people expect consistency between their limited tests and the AV-Comparatives reference.
