I really like Dolphin too, but usually stick to the included browser because I don't use browsers much on my phones or tablets. That's what my laptops are for.

If I was going to start using them for browsing, I would give Sleipnir a try, as I love the Windows version.

I prefer Dolphin but also use Chrome. I've tried a few others but they had things I didn't like. I'm not willing to run something too obscure for a browser...

Yandex works fastest and on all sites/logins on my NextBook.
Opera Mini fast but doesn't render all pages properly,
    FireFox slower than treacle,
Regular Opera also slower than treacle,
Also, add Adblock Plus from their website (not available on the Chrome store.) It makes almost all browsers faster except Maxthon, which continues to show every blooming ad on every page, unless you disable java script.

I haven't run Sleipnir for years. It might be interesting to see what the droid version is like.

Currently using Tint Browser. It's fast, has all the usual browser features, AND it lets you set a custom search engine url.

Unless you have the latest Android OS, stay away from the android shell browsers which will have the same security vulnerabilities as the stock android browser. One way to see which engine browsers use is the html5test.com

Can you be more specific about which versions of Android are vulnerable and which aren't? TIA

I've recently been using the default browser with JavaScript disabled.

Firefox was too slow on my low-end tablet, but Opera Mobile classic runs pretty well, allows rudimentary ad blocking, and works with Flash.

I'd say the "slowdown" with Firefox (never noticed it myself) is worth the security benefits of having extensions like HTTPS Everywhere and ABP. Have fun if a malicious ad exploits your phone or someone is sweeping up your data on that public WiFi.

Five mins between page loads slows down malware for sure.

What are you using to block adverts with using Opera?

It's really great. I have been using it for a few months now. It has a different approach to the UI and tabs that I really appreciate, with features like scroll grip, hold and go, a whole range of intuitive gesture-based operations, certain extent of customizability, etc.

Speed wise, I find it satisfactory though I'm not sure if it's the fastest. But Sleipnir is the closest I get to having a desktop browser experience on an Android phone, though I think one would need a 4+ inch screen to truly appreciate it.

The main con is that I feel it's (sometimes) a bit slow in getting updates, mainly because the devs seem to be slightly starved trying to distribute their resources between the Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android versions.

UC Mini. Fast and doesn't use up much data (though can't do youtube etc. with it).

I'm not sure if this is FUD but it seems Dolphin, Boat, UC, and others have serious privacy issues. -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48564902

So far I have mainly been using Chrome and Naked Browser. Firefox was more than slow, pages flat refuse to load sometimes. Wish it worked better because I liked it.

    Permissions:
    Chrome - 28
    Firefox - 27
    Naked Browser - 5

I'm test driving Sleipnir on my phone at the moment. It has some interesting features and also an ad block extension. Do you know if there's a good tutorial for it? (can't find one so far).
