I'm surprised to see that many people where shocked to see Hermescomputers his systray, haha. It's a lot but not uncommon for me.

    1. I try to use as less programs as necessary. If I would use all managers/trayicons/additional program's I would even have twice this amount of icons.
    2. I've got a lot of icons at the moment but thats because I'm running a lot of programs. Usually I have around 15 (that's including programs I'm using every day (like MSN/skype/xfire/thunderbird/etc) and necessary programs (like to operate media keys at keyboard and mouse settings). Those just can't be disabled.

At the moment my systray looks like this.

I like RegDefend and ShadowUser's icons. I find Ad Muncher should change its icon (my personal taste, of course).

You should make a thread about animals in your systray.. So far I've seen a dog, a monkey, a cow, a bug, a donkey a hippo and a ghost (although that's maybe not an animal).

    Systray zoo :D.

Not sure, but it could be the start of a new trend - like an alternative Spot the Difference with tray icons? I think you should add a few more, at least. You think you can get 30 icons in there? Now that would be impressive (I get hot flushes if I have over 10 tray icons o_O ).

    30?
    Sure that's possible :).

And since he already has like 25, it should only take him a minute.

Some of you people are nuts running so many programs. Even with enough ram I don't see the need to have over 4 icons in your sys tray. The only thing in mine 90% of the time is NOD32,Comodo and my Logitech Gaming panel software. Other times its Rivatuner also but only when I am gaming.

    I tend to disagree.
When I look at my desktop PC I need at least:
    MSN
    Skype
    Xfire
    WhatPulse
Winamp (since I don't have a taskbar button)
Taskmanager (cause it's faster available in case of a crash, and I can monitor my CPU)
    Remove hardware
2 programs that are needed for device configuration (mouse and keyboard).

That makes a minimum of 8. It really depends on what programs you are using and what functions you want to have available.
Although 30+ icons are extreme situations indeed.
I do have a very clean startup list though. Only programs that are necessary to run my system are in my startup list. When I want to use IM's or other program's, I use a self made .BAT to start them (cause I use all of them at the same time usually, I've got several .BAT files for several situations).

    ========
Coolio10's: No I don't. I've got a P IV 3.00 Ghz and 2 GB of RAM. In some situations I use up 70% of my RAM, but what's wrong with that, that's why I put 2 GB in it in the first place.
    :)

Actually I have 4 gig RAM (Only 2 Registers right now as Im using a 32 bit version of XP) But the real horse power power comes from using 2 yes that's right 2 Opteron Processors... Not those Wimpy dual core weaklings...:D You can see the hardware config here: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=265840 For those interested I have the rig liquid cooled using Thermaltake Big water with a few tweaks to make this thing rev a little faster...

Which by the way with all these icons I multi task and never even notice, play video games while I scan for virus and it still keeps on ripping... I LOVE AMD OPTERONS...:thumb:

I like an icon that's showing me something. I can instantly see if I am not connected via Hamachi (3 lights,) so an icon has gotta be functional, most are but some you wonder what it's doing there.

    a vpn alright guys :)

I haven't heard of LogMeIn Hamachi before, but it looks great! I'm a big fan of LogMeIn products.

    Hello,
Actually, I had a setup with 7 until 2 months ago.
VPN, 1, cables, 2 LAN machines, 2 VMware adapters, 1 VB adapter.
But externet was just a single physical connection ....
