I never totally got on with Sleipnir. I'm going through a bit of a Maxthon 4 phase at the moment. I think that they have distinct similarities as browsers.
Just moved from Chrome to Yandex, based on Chromium, compatible with Chrome extensions, syncs everything too. Yandex also provides email service and online storage.
Well, Chromium does not have an integrated flash and I think, its synchronizations uses an google account and with that Google's faux pas with privacy (EULA), I will pass.
SeaMonkey A lot of browser brands were omitted from the list so i guess this falls under "other" category
I don't really consider Chrome as my favorite. But I like the security benefits it has offered. IE is actually quite lovely, but some pages are broken, and using compatibility view broke them even more.
The poll shows popularity not browser speed. I can't argue with Maxthon's speed. The v4.2.0.3000 (now Blink-engined) release is even faster IMO. I think if it had a better adblocker it might be more popular.
Internet Explorer is my preference, but that's only because I'm able to still use the latest. If I wasn't able to get the latest or maintained versions then an alternative browser would more appealing but not necessarily my favorite. For old machines the choice of browser is Mozilla Firefox. I use to long ago prefer Chrome on older machines but It became a noticeable resource hog. Mozilla Firefox on the other hand may require some juice but the ride is far smoother.
Firefox & IE (Banking only) Firefox - protected with noscript (allows first party only scripts by default) and ABP (added some sites like to facebook, discus to blocked as thirdparty), Also set all the plugins "Ask to Activate" mode except flash.
I always use two browsers. Currently, the main is FF with Disconnect, Flash and nothing else. But the Huffington Post page doesn´t work. The message "Updating news and blogs" appears, and FF freezes for some time. When it revives, I scroll down a bit and the same happens. All the tabs affected by "problems" in one page ... I thought that problem had disappeared a long time ago. The Huffpost page works perfectly with IE 10. Smooth and fast.
Ditto here. I'm trying out Maxthon and I like its versatility of combining many built-in features from other browsers (mouse gestures, etc.) and the ability to change modules (Ultra mode[Blink] to Retro[Trident-IE]). There are a few gripes I've got with it such as not having a script blocker-like extension, lack of good extensions and its built-in adblocker could be tweaked along with it popup blocker. But overall, I'm just fiddling around with this alongside Chrome Dev version.
SlimBrowser - 45MB in memory and as fast as Maxthon 4, built-in Fanboy adblocker, excellent built-in popup blocker, master password protected password manager. It just works with fewer quirks that any other browser I've used.
I'm still using Sleipnir, and very happy with it. At work I use Chrome mostly and I do like that too - just nowhere near as much as Slepinir - mainly because I can configure Sleipnir to work exactly how I want without having to install any addons. For example I had to install the Chrome Toolbox addon in Chrome so that I get prompted for confirmation when I try to close Chrome with multiple tabs open. I hate the standard behaviour of it closing with no confirmation - really annoying when you have a lot of tabs open and accidentally click the closr button.
