Fat Puppy problem????

Hi there folks.

I was just wondering if any of you know anything about Fat Puppy. I noticed a problem on my system last night when for no apparent reason my net connection slowed right down, to the extent that I was unable to load pages, email bombed out, couldn't get onto IRC etc etc. The Wife rebooted and reconnected this morning and all was well, seemingly. The other thing was that whenever I opened IE a popup window cam up with it, the site URL used didn't matter. I came to this site, google and other sites I know that don't use popups, all with the same result. I ran both adaware and spybot, both picked up nothing. Hikack this also came up blank. When I called up my add remove programs it showed Fat puppy in the list, yet at no time did either the wife nor myself install it. The 3 files and 1 folder listed in the folder were Temp folder, CheckUrl.dll, CheckUrlInst and uninstall. I ran the uninstall and deleted the folder after saving a copy to the desktop in case anyone wants to have a look at these files. Hoping you guys can help me with this one. Other info that may be of help is that I'm currently running winxp pro, avast AV, spybot and adaware. I'm as I'm able d/l and installing the various patches for xp, but as yet haven't done much in that way. Being on dialup makes d/l and rebooting and reconnectiong a rather expensive option. Hope you can help.

I'm wondering then if it wasn't a free screensaver thingy that I tried out last night that might not be the culprit then I got it from a freethemes site, can't remember the URL of the top of my head, but can get it from my history and check it out, though that will have to wait till I'm offline tomorrow morning. Will let you know then. Should you want the files of this Fat Puppy thing to look at, or anyone else whois a more clued up on these kinda things, let me know. I can with a little digging get the url of the site and the screensaver name so that it can be more thouroughly checked out. Let me know.
