sadly on linux the only way you can get an updated version is by installing the KDE desktop and it goes by the name of falcon.

the new name, under the KDE development umbrella, will be "falkon" (with a K)

"sadly... the only way" is incorrect.
Right now, you can download distro-agnostic AppImage of qupzilla
    https://qupzilla.com/download#linux
    chmod +x /path/to/downloaded/thefile.appimage
    and immediately run qupzilla.

If you care to create an "icon" (launcher):
within the .desktop launcher file, use launchstring
    Exec=/path/to/downloaded/thefile.appimage

I tried Falkon today on Windows 7 with WSA as the only security software, but Falkon only showed a splash screen and wouldn't run on 2 separate attempts. The process didn't appear in Task Manager, there were no errors logged by Windows, and WSA didn't report blocking it. QupZilla runs fine on here. I had been curious to try Falkon, but I don't want to spend any more time troubleshooting it.

Falkon has taken over from qupzilla & from qupzilla's website. However, the qupzilla site is still there, with a link to Falkon. I am running Falkon as my #2 browser (Firefox is #1). Falkon is fast & light on Win7 64 4gb. The font setter under preferences uses default size numbers that are really small. I had to bump them up a lot for my old eyes, using trial & error. By the way, Falkon's taskbar thingee has a barely visible falcon icon but its text says "QupZilla".

As to memory usage, Falkon is a good choice if your ram is ≤2gb -- it uses waaaay less ram than Chrome. Just a tad less than Firefox. I have 10 tabs alive as I write this but there is only 1 instance of Falkon listed on Task Manager, & its ram use is only 247mb. Okay, I just now added amazon.com, which has mucho animation, as my 11th tab. Not a whimper from Falkon. Of cource Falkon's ram usage went up... to 480mb.

Jolly good browser, wot? Shazam! :thumb::thumb::isay::p

I was tempted to try Falkon on Zorin Linux. However, I could find lots of information about Firefox's security whereas I found none for Falkon. Concluding that Falkon is, therefore, a bird of pray, I kept on dancing with the foxy lass I brought to the party.:isay:

The only ad blocker that works on Falkon, so far as I can see, is AdBlock, and it woefully under performs, even with additional filter lists installed. I uninstalled it a few hours later and have decided to stay with latest Firefox with about:config tweaks to increase privacy.

I would say "good choice" to stay with Firefox and avoid Falkon like the plague.

I root for any browser that isn't based on chromium. Thus, I really hope that browsers such as Falkon & K-meleon get their security well in hand, so as to eventually get into the mainstream.

Falkon is a lightweight browser based on almost a 100 fewer lines of Apparmor lines in my case as compared to Firefox, but the ad blocking is terrible, as it's limited to only the Adblock extension.

Is uBlock Origin an option for Falkon? As for Apparmor -- for now, that tool is waaay above my pay grade.o_O

Brummelchen is right, Falkon's extension base is very limited:

    https://userbase.kde.org/Falkon#Extensions

The only other available extensions that work for Falkon are avaiialble from the Falkon Browser store:

    https://store.falkon.org/browse/

Too bad, otherwise I'd seriously consider Falkon as my primary browser under Linux.

    EDIT

Also, the most recent release was in January 2022 :(

Too bad -- seems like it's circling the drain.
