Facebook's redesigned website finally starts rolling out to everyone

After the better part of a year, Facebook has started rolling out its redesigned desktop website to all of its users.
The company announced today it plans to complete the rollout over the "next few weeks." Moving forward, "The New Facebook" will be the default for everyone who uses the social media platform on their desktop computer.

Like most redesigns, Facebook's new desktop interface can be jarring at first, particularly if you have a high-resolution display. The main thing to note is that Facebook has simplified navigation significantly, with a top bar that provides easy access to the website's home, watch, marketplace, groups and gaming pages.

Facebook claims the home page will load faster and transitions between pages will be smoother. Another tweak is that the website's responsive design now better scales to different window sizes.

If you don’t have access to the new interface the next time you visit Facebook, you may have to wait a couple of days.
While the company works on completing the rollout, you can switch back to the classic interface through the drop-down settings menu.

'The New Facebook’ reflects the changing role of desktop computing.
The redesign is long overdue. While Facebook's website is constantly changing, its general look and navigation have remained the same for many years.
Various sections have multiple entry points, too, which adds to the site's clutter and complexity.

“We shifted a lot of our attention to really catching up on mobile,” Tom Occhino, director of engineering for the Facebook app, told Engadget.
Facebook continued to maintain and update its website. The platform was a lower priority, though, which inevitably affected its design and performance over time.

I've already said it, but at this moment I believe that the new design sucks, it's ugly and strangely enough it feels slower. Zuckerberg should be fired!

Classic Facebook is going away soon

Facebook has announced that users will soon be forced to switch to the New Facebook experience, first announced in May this year.

A new pop-up confirms that Classic Facebook is going away soon and explains the benefits of the New Facebook.com.
These include a cleaner layout, faster load times and the option of a dark mode.

Classic Facebook is set to go away forever in September, so those who love the look should savour it while it lasts.
