    Hi,

I have an F-Secure Internet Security 2006 CD (OEM) which I got when I bought some kit. I've never installed or used it so I have 12 months of subscription unused on it. I don't know much about F-Secure other than it's multiengine and when I last looked at it I don't think it had the iChecker and iSwift options. :'(

However it is without a doubt an effective AV which doesn't seam to have as many users on these forums as I would expect (although there are some notable exceptions).

My question for those who are familiar with F-Secure is can I use my FSIS 2006 key with a later version that works with Vista? I don't need to use the F-Secure with my current machines or builds but I will need a new AV solution when I move to Vista and it seams sensible to use the AV licence I have.

Also is it possible to just download a later version of F-Secure (e.g. 2007) and use the key or do I install 2006 and then run an updater?

    Thanks,
    Phasechange :ninja:

    It's simple...
Download ver. 2007, install it and use the key...it will work.

cool thanks. Are the keys good for one version only or are they like to be good for a theoretical 2008 version? I'm not planning on installing Vista until it's stabilised a bit (unless I can get a rebate when I buy (which is less common in the UK than it is in the US).

Your key will be good until it expires.

excellent :) and working on the basis that I haven't started using it then there is no hurry. I will keep it and use it once I install Vista (I will be keeping my AOL AVS protected XP partition for the near future).

    Thank you all!

mainly it uses less resourses 13 processes instead of 18.
and you get an improved antispyware and deepguard (hips)
btw for the hips be careful since it can block drivers by mistake.

I never had a BSOD nor a problem with my Soundblaster Live! drivers (today that will be replaced with an Audigy 4 SE with Inspire 7.1 speakers :D )

    i have Audigy 2 ZS
deepgaurd blocked the installtion of the sound card driver when using the autoupdate from the creative website.
so i had to change the options to ask me on all choices. sure it gave more popups that way but at least i could install the drivers.
so if you havent already change the options for deepguard to ask on all actions before you do an autoupdate on the creative website.

Oh, sorry about that. I thought I once read a post of yours where you mentioned having problems with FSIS and Live! drivers.

Though I always disable the AV when installing drivers (especially Nvidia), I haven't thought about the updates so I will keep that in mind.

I did get my new card and speakers here at work today so I will be busy tonight, lol.

Well lodore, I think there IS something F-Secure doesn't like about the Audigy drivers and/or it's apps. As soon as I had it installed I started running into problems. I could not bring the EAX Control Panel up plus some other Creative apps. And then I had a freeze up at shutdown. As soon as I uninstalled FSIS it started working properly (my god I have BASS now, lol).

So I had to return to my old backup NOD32/Comodo combo. I have updated the Audigy driver and the apps since then. I may try again this weekend to reinstall FSIS in case these updates may have fixed some incompatiblities.

    this forum is biased!
when i tried it, i never had problems with my sound drivers either, i think lodore was just unlucky or maybe something else was conflicting or some settings wrong, i dont know. :)
