Meanwhile, back at the topic -- Here are some resource comparisons between several antivirus programs I have trialed in the past few weeks, including F-P.

The following data are expressed in MegaBytes, as measured by Process Explorer, covering...
Private Bytes / Working (RAM)/ Virtual

    AviraPE Classic 53.4 / 12.1 / 111.7
    Comodo- BOClean 16.7 / 12.7 / 75.1
    DrWeb 2.2 / 4.04 / 61.8
    F-Prot 6.8 / 15 / 142
    Moon AV 24.4 / 31.3 / 111
    NOD 20.6 / 23.6 / 107.2

F-P's real-time-monitor barely registers in terms of percent usage of total cpu cycles.

I am unqualified to quantitatively measure or interpret cpu usage except to say that I can discern no slow-down of my computer while using F-P. Do any of you know how to quantitatively measure the relative *drag* generated by the real-time-monitor of a given antivirus program?

P.S. - Yes, I know CBOClean is not an antivirus, but I included it anyway. Shalom

F-P has other running processes not included in the screenshot. {By the way, Process Explorer is available free from HERE}.

@glentrino- Nice screenshot! FprotTray.exe is _one_ of F-P's running processes but there are a couple of others, as you no doubt know. Altogether, F-P'S new version still is one of the lighter, sprightlier antivirus programs (floats like a butterfly) that gives excellent protection (stings like a bee). :)

I hope you continue to share your F-P experiences with us often. I also hope you enjoy the technical excellence of Process Explorer as much as I do. :thumb:

honestly, I still quite don't understand what you mean as, even in Process Explorer, I can only see two processes related to F-Prot 6, which are FProtTray.exe and FPAVServer.exe

I tried this product & I like what it did. However when you put a false positive in the exception class it doesn't totally ignore it. Ihave a game it see's the exe file to run the game as a virus ( it's not) & if I put it in as an exception the game runs too slow, so I remoeved it. I was disappointed as I was going to use it to replace Nod as I have alot of respect for Mike & his work...

Did you try sending the file to Frisk so they could look at it and get it removed from being detected? They are usually very quick to fix false positives.

    A question and a statement.

First the Question: I saw on a screen shot that there is a button marked profiles. Does f-Prot have multiple profile types like NOD32?

Now the statement: Disabling the definitions updater in the trial version is not a smart move. This is discourages people from trialing the software. o_O

But you can update with the trial. What makes you think you cannot?

By "profiles" you probably mean the different scan schedules you can set up with the on-demand scanner.

The automatic update function is disabled, but you can still update it manually during the 30 days

A silly limitation then. Most other Av's don't limit you in this way. Still it's good to know that you can update it. :doubt:

Actually, i'll double check on this as it might just be f-prot 3 this applied to, I think if you get a trial subscription key from frisk then the auto updater should work on f-prot 6

Well if you use the link I provided they are talking about F-Prot Antivirus 6.0.7.0 . But you guys would know better than I about the screenshot and updating. Maybe F-Prot should contact Majorgeeks to update their info. http://majorgeeks.com/F-Prot_Antivirus_d1139.html

@The Hammer: Did you request for a Trial Subscription Key? i believe you need it for automatic updates during the 30day trial...
