Hey, I've got a new computer using a fresh install of windows 7 64 bit on an OCZ vertex 3 SSD with NOD32 5.0.95.0 installed. Using firefox 10 beta as my main browser but also have Chrome and IE 9. I'm running flash version 11.1.102.55, the latest version. I'm experiencing very slow flash performance in all browsers, specifically initial loading period. Embedded youtube videos take ~5-10 seconds to go from a white box to an actual video, but once they load they usually play fine. As the page is loading the browser displays "Transferring data from youtube.com". This happens on all flash video sites, like vimeo as well.

At first I wasn't sure what was causing the poor performance, I reinstalled the flash plugin and all the browsers. Finally narrowed it down to NOD32, specifically the web access protection. When I temporarily disable web access protection everything loads just fine. It also loads fine when I disable HTTP checking. No other options seem to affect the performance though. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Anyone have any ideas what could be happening? I wouldn't want to have to permanently disable web protection because of this, but it is very annoying while browsing the net.

Out of curiosity, does enabling pre-release updates in the update setup make a difference?

I initially had the pre-release update enabled. I tried switching it back and it didn't improve. I am now back to pre-release.

Actually I take that back. I reverted back to the regular release and it did speed up loading quite a bit. Not as good as completely disabled but definitely usable in general browsing. I guess I didn't pay close enough attention when I tried it before. Is this a known bug in the pre-release version? Either way, thanks for the suggestion!

I can confirm this on several systems. Web Protection enabled = slowdown on most flash content. Some embedded Youtube videos can just show a blank white square for a long time before it finally loads. Opening Nod32 at that time, and checking what file is currently being processed by the Web Protection, shows that it is a Youtube (or other Flash)-related file being scanned. As soon as Nod32 gets past scanning that file, the video or whatever it is immediately shows.

I can't remember this happening before a few weeks back, but now it's definitely happening on all systems with Nod32 installed.

    Hello,

I have the same problem since this afternoon: Most of the videos in flash can be read after a very long time. I use beta versions of Esert Smart Security

Does disabling web protection or http filtering in the advanced setup make a difference?

If I disable the web protection : the videos are displayed correctly (quickly).

EDIT: I confirm, by disabling the HTTP filter the videos displayed much faster. With the filter the videos can be played within about 10 to 15 seconds.

Could you confirm or deny that enabling pre-release updates followed by a manual update resolves the issue? Make sure that the Internet protection module 1031 is installed by right-clicking the EAV icon in the right-hand lower corner and selecting About.

I have the same problem since today. And enabling pre-release updates followed by a manual update did not resolve the issue.

Just stumbled across this thread. FWIW I have the very same issue with Flash. I had not associated it with nod32, so thanks for the detective work.

Since today I have the same problem, but with Smart Security instead. I also have changed to pre-release updates, Internet protection module was updated from 1025 to 1031. Didn't help. Only thing that helps, is deactivating ESS.

1, is there any difference in performance between disabling web access protection and http filtering?
2, does excluding the swf extension in the web access protection setup make a difference?
3, does excluding all websites from content filtering by adding * to the list of addresses excluded from content filtering make a difference?

The only solution is to disable HTTP filtering. Even excluding the extension .swf does not change (module "web access protection")

What about removing all file extensions from scanning?

This does not change ... I really tried several combinations: including return to the configuration "by défauf". The only change is when you disable HTTP filtering.

EDIT : Further clarification: the problem is not on all the elements in flash (swf) because I'm testing on several websites and display is instantaneous. However, the videos in Flash format undertake in 10/15 seconds (which is really too slow ...)

In ''threatSence Engine Parameter setup/ extensions'' disabling ''Scan all files'' make difference (the problem is resolved). But if you remove all file extensions and then enable ''Scan all files'' the problem persists which is stupid.

For me too: I found more problems. Maybe ESET found the solution? It would be nice to know the cause.

Not without the logs I've asked you for. If you're unable to upload them to the ftp server, use a file sharing service and PM me the download link once the logs are uploaded.

Is anybody still having problems with performance when loading websites?

Would you please give me some examples of problematic sites that load slowly?
